WASHINGTON, DC: Alina Habba, attorney for former President Donald Trump, sparked outrage online after dismissing the widely held principle that "no one is above the law" as a "stupid little catchphrase" used by liberals to justify her client's prosecution.

On Thursday, May 23, during an appearance on Fox News, host Harris Faulkner questioned Habba why the jury had not been sequestered in Trump's hush money case.

Donald Trump's historic hush money trial

Trump is accused of falsifying business records to cover up hush payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.

The trial, notable for being the first criminal case against a former US president, is nearing its conclusion, with closing statements expected next week.

Trump is confronted with 34 felony charges for falsifying business records connected to reimbursements to Cohen for a hush-money payment to an adult film star, purportedly recorded as legal expenses. He has entered a plea of not guilty.

Alina Habba highlights bias in rush to try Trump before the November election

In response, Habba suggested that political motivations were at play, alleging that the rush to try Trump before the November election was an attempt to cover up biased proceedings. "I agree with you," Habba responded.

"These things are fatal errors that we're seeing because of the political motivation, as we've seen, Harris, to rush these trials against President Trump, to make sure they're done before the November election, and to cover it up by saying no one is above the law," she added.

"That stupid little catchphrase that they love to say, well, that's not really your political motivation because Hunter Biden's above the law," Habba asserted.

"Let's talk about that," Faulkner said before redirecting the conversation to President Joe Biden's son.

The witnesses, including Hunter’s former spouse Kathleen Buhle, his sister-in-law-turned-lover Hallie Biden, and ex-girlfriend Zoe Kestan (also known as Weed Slut420), are expected to recount his near-constant drug use during October 2018.

This was when he allegedly lied about his addiction while purchasing a handgun, as per court filings.

Additionally, Hallie Biden, the widow of Beau Biden with whom Hunter had a "sexual relationship," is anticipated to testify that Hunter possessed the Colt Cobra .38 Special for 11 days before she discarded it in a trash can outside a Wilmington supermarket.

Previously, Hunter had attributed the firearm incident to individuals of Mexican descent.

Prosecutors argue that Hunter falsely claimed on a federal background check form that he was neither a user of controlled substances nor an addict when buying the firearm on October 12, 2018.

Special counsel David Weiss indicted Hunter on three felony counts in September, accusing him of illegally possessing the gun and lying on the background check form.

Although Weiss did not disclose the witnesses' names in the filings, their identities are evident from public reports, data from Hunter’s abandoned laptop, records from the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, and Hunter’s own 2021 memoir, 'Beautiful Things.'

"She's an attorney? They teach 'no one is above the law' in law school," a user questioned.

"Rush? We’ve been waiting four years plus," remarked a user. "Why are they so obsessed with Hunter Biden?! He’s not even in politics," added another.

"GEE Alina, isn't that how you make your money?" questioned a user.
