‘I paid all of them’: Pawn Stars' Rick Harrison calls out son Corey over GoFundMe for medical bills
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Pawn Stars' star Rick Harrison is pushing back against claims that his son Corey Harrison needs financial help after a recent accident. A GoFundMe campaign launched by Corey’s friend Aron Chambers says it aims to raise more than $100,000 to cover medical bills after Corey was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Tulum, Mexico.
But Rick insists the fundraiser is unnecessary, saying the expenses have already been taken care of. Corey, 42, suffered 11 broken ribs in the January crash that reportedly left him fighting for his life.
Rick Harrison says he paid all medical bills long before Corey's friend launched GoFundMe
Rick Harrison says he covered his son’s medical costs well before the fundraiser appeared online. “As far as I know, I paid all of Corey Harrison’s medical bills long before he put the GoFundMe out,” Rick told Page Six through a representative on Friday, March 6. “He is a grown man in his 40’s and is responsible for how he handles his finances."
Corey addressed the accident himself on social media shortly after the crash. “Pretty messed up but I’m good,” the 'Pawn Stars' alum wrote on Instagram while sharing a photo from his hospital bed. “Crash bars are awesome. Three nights in the hospital. 11 breaks in my rib cage.”
The injuries forced Corey to miss Rick’s January wedding to Angie Polushkin. A representative for Rick, 60, later told Entertainment Weekly that Corey would “recover fully” but needed six weeks of bed rest while he healed. The rep also confirmed that Rick visited his son in the hospital on January 26.
Corey Harrison’s friend described GoFundMe as 'lifeline to get him through' troubles
Aron Chambers said his close friend Corey Harrison suffered multiple serious injuries in the crash, including a concussion, internal bleeding, and a punctured lung, according to a GoFundMe page he created. He said emergency responders transported Corey to a hospital in Playa del Carmen, where the cost of treatment quickly mounted.
Chambers wrote that financial pressure forced Corey to check out after 14 days, though he later spent another 18 days hospitalized and underwent "three life-saving surgeries." He also claimed Corey has fallen three months behind on rent and now needs help paying for medication and ongoing follow-up care.
Chambers added that Corey still isn’t strong enough to travel back to the United States for further treatment and support from his family. “This fundraiser is our lifeline to get him through this,” he wrote.
Describing his friend, Chambers wrote, "Corey has always been the guy who works hard, stays humble, and gives back without asking for anything in return. Now, it’s our turn to rally for him. Asking for help isn’t easy for someone as independent as Corey, but this accident has changed everything, and we can’t do it alone.”
At the time of writing, the GoFundMe campaign had raised $8,525 toward its $18,000 goal, with 165 donations.
