Gypsy Rose Blanchard reveals she 'shot' her mother 10 times years before actual murder in 2015
CHILLICOTHE, MISSOURI: Gypsy Rose Blanchard, recently released from prison for her role in the murder of her mother, drops a bombshell revelation in a new docuseries.
Gypsy confesses to 'shooting' her mother Clauddine Dee Dee Blanchard at their home years before the infamous murder took place, shedding light on the years of abuse she endured.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard's struggle for independence
In interviews featured in the Lifetime docuseries titled 'The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard' she unveils the desperate measures she took to escape her mother's tyranny. The series delves into Gypsy's life, chronicling her traumatic journey as a victim of Munchausen by proxy, culminating in her serving eight years for the 2015 murder of her abusive mother.
As Gypsy Rose sought independence, her mother's control intensified. Dee Dee fabricated severe medical conditions for her daughter, forcing her into a wheelchair, using a feeding tube, even shaving her head, and holding her captive for an extended period in their family home just north of Springfield.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard once shot at her mother 10 times
The abusive environment prompted Gypsy to run away in 2011, but her mother brought her back, chaining her to bed for two weeks and introducing a gun into the equation. “That scared the ever-living ‘f’ out of me,” she said. “I was afraid that she would kill me. … I was afraid she would do something worse than hitting me or starving me,” HuffPost reported.
Fearing for her life, Gypsy decided to escape once more. Confronted by her mother, she grabbed a gun and, in a moment of desperation, fired at her 10 times. To her relief and shock, she discovered it was a BB gun, not a lethal weapon. Dee Dee, not admitting the truth, concocted a false story of a robbery at a Walmart parking lot.
The incident left Gypsy angry and questioning her mother's actions. Despite this, she felt defeated adding, “My mom was such a good master manipulator that she was able to slip me right back into submission again.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard orchestrated her mother's murder
When she later met Nick Godejohn on a Christian dating site, Gyps believed she had found her 'Prince Charming' and eventually saw her mother as the villain in their twisted fairy tale. The tragic climax occurred on June 9, 2015, when Gypsy and Godejohn, who hail from Wisconsin, conspired together in planning the murder of Dee Dee.
However, he was the one who carried out the act of fatally stabbing the mother. Gypsy, present during the killing, later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016, receiving a 10-year prison sentence. Godejohn, convicted of first-degree murder in 2019, is serving a life sentence without parole.
