Ilhan Omar faces new probe over reported multimillion-dollar assets a day after her DC home raid
WASHINGTON, DC: On Tuesday, Oct 13, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced her office is digging into Rep Ilhan Omar’s financial disclosures, adding fuel to the ongoing controversy around the Minnesota Democrat’s multimillion-dollar assets.
Investigators are zeroing in on her financial filings, especially the businesses connected to Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett. Last year, those businesses were valued at up to $51,000, but in 2024, their reported worth soared to $30 million.
Jeanine Pirro investigates Ilhan Omar’s financial disclosures
On Fox News’ America Reports, Pirro said her office is looking into Omar’s financial disclosures. This comes as Omar’s finances face growing scrutiny, and just a day after federal agents searched her Washington, DC, home as part of another criminal investigation into her immigration paperwork.
Right now, authorities haven’t said if these two investigations connect.
The Justice Department confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant Monday as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
It remains unclear whether the search is connected in any way to the financial disclosure investigation described by Pirro.
The financial dispute focuses on two companies linked to Mynett: eStCru LLC, a winery out in California, and Rose Lake Capital LLC, a venture capital firm based in Washington, DC. Both companies reported massive jumps in their valuations from 2023 to 2024, and that caught the attention of congressional Republicans.
The numbers in the filings are striking. In 2023, eStCru’s reported worth sat somewhere between $15,000 and $50,000.
Just a year later, that figure skyrocketed to somewhere between $1 million and $5 million. Rose Lake Capital’s numbers are even more dramatic: it went from a value between $1 and $1,000 in 2023 to between $5 million and $25 million in 2024.
Combined, the businesses were listed as having a value of between approximately $15,000 and $51,000 in 2023, compared with between $6 million and $30 million in 2024.
In April, Omar updated her financial disclosures, cutting the couple’s reported assets down to somewhere between $18,004 and $95,000. She also indicated that Mynett’s businesses actually have no net value once you factor in their debts.
Omar’s office explained that her earlier filings didn’t properly include what her husband’s businesses owed, which made their overall finances look better than they really were.
Financial inquiry remains separate from home search
Pirro announced the news after agents searched Omar’s Washington home on Monday. The Justice Department said Homeland Security Investigations carried out a search warrant as part of an ongoing federal criminal case.
According to two sources who spoke to Fox News Digital, the investigation centers on Omar’s immigration documents.
It’s not clear if this search connects to the financial disclosure investigation. The congressional watchdog’s look at Omar’s financial filings stands apart from Pirro’s inquiry.
The congresswoman keeps denying any wrongdoing and insists she isn’t a millionaire. After authorities searched her home, she accused the Trump administration of going after her for political reasons.
Pirro’s announcement adds a fresh twist to the ongoing focus on Omar’s financial filings. Still, officials haven’t shared exactly what the investigation covers, and they haven’t shown she’s done anything wrong.
