Ilhan Omar smears Charlie Kirk’s legacy after his fatal shooting, faces resignation calls

WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk’s shooting death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the nation, but sympathy wasn’t in the script for some Democrats and local officials.
"Squad" member Rep Ilhan Omar (D-MN), for one, went on the offensive.

Ilhan Omar unleashes on Charlie Kirk
“There are a lot of people who are talking about him [Kirk] just wanting to have a civil debate,” Ilhan Omar sneered to progressive outlet Zeteo, which was launched by journalist Mehdi Hassan after his show on MSNBC was canceled. “These people are full of s**t and it’s important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness.”
Omar blasted the TurningPoint USA founder for downplaying George Floyd and opposing Juneteenth. "There is nothing more f**ked up than to pretend that his words and actions haven’t been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so," she added, before accusing Kirk of spewing “hateful rhetoric” online.

However, the Minnesota congresswoman's words backfired majorly on social media.
"Ilhan Omar (D-Somalia) should never have been let into our country," Florida GOP Rep Randy Fine posted on X (formerly Twitter).
"Rep Ilhan Omar (D) is now ATTACKING and SMEARING Charlie Kirk after he was assassinated. This is an elected representative. She needs to RESIGN. EVIL," the conservative Libs of TikTok account fumed.
"@SpeakerJohnson FFS how much damage does this heinous woman how to do to the House of Representatives before she is expelled?" another asked, tagging House Speaker Mike Johnson.
One more wrote, "I don't want these people in my country," and another said, "It is abhorrent that this person is a sitting congresswoman."

What is the point of having rules of behavior when so many are violating them?
It is abhorrent that this person is a sitting congresswoman.

Democrats pass the blame
On Wednesday, September 10, just hours after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker pointed the finger at Donald Trump.
“Political violence, unfortunately, has been ratcheting up in this country,” Pritzker told reporters, bringing up the recent murder of Melissa Hortman, the Democratic speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. “I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country — I think the president’s rhetoric often foments it,” he added.
Pritzker said January 6 had “tripped a new era of political violence,” conveniently ignoring two assassination attempts against Trump.

Meanwhile, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) spread the blame around. “Political violence is never the answer. It divides us. But also, I’ve got to say, political rhetoric, too, from both sides, often gets out of hand, and it incites people to do things like this," he told CNN.
He urged Americans to “think about … our words and the consequences of them, you know, from both sides of the political spectrum.”

Insensitive comments after Charlie Kirk's death
Some officials didn’t even bother with polite phrasing. “A lot of good people died today. Charlie Kirk wasn’t one of them,” wrote Michael Kilbane, City Council President of Fairview Park, Ohio, in a shocking Facebook post.

Over in Washington, Secret Service agent Anthony Pough took a victory lap. “If you are Mourning this guy .. delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show," he wrote, adding, "At the end of the day, you answer to GOD and speak things into existence. You can only circumvent karma, she doesnt [sic] leave," as per RealClearPolitics.
The Secret Service told the New York Post the employee “has been placed on administrative leave as we investigate the matter,” stressing the agency “will not tolerate any behavior which violates our code of conduct.”
Meanwhile, a Marine Corps recruiter lost his gig after posting a photo of Kirk with the caption, “Another racist man popped.”

“The Marine in question has been relieved of his recruiting duties, and the matter is currently under investigation,” Capt Austin Gallegos confirmed to Task & Purpose.
