WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has been slapped with a complaint accusing her of "violating House Ethics rule by failing to fully disclose and/or by filing false or misleading information regarding the business assets and liabilities of her spouse, Tim Mynett."

The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) filed the complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) on Tuesday, June 25, just weeks after a Minnesota Reformer report accused Mynett of defrauding his investors, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

NLPC calls on OCE to launch a 'preliminary inquiry' against Ilhan Omar

The NLPC complaint requests OCE to begin a "preliminary inquiry" as well as launch "a full investigation" to unearth if the accusations are right before demanding the House Ethics Committee’s interference to take "disciplinary action" against Omar.

In early June, a Minnesota Reformer report disclosed the 41-year-old politician’s husband's alleged shady ventures in the wine and cannabis industries, which have resulted in lawsuits from displeased investors.

Mynett met Naeem Mohd, a DC-area restaurant owner, in 2021.

He and his partner, Will Hailer, received a $300,000 investment from Mohd to start a wine business, eStCru. The duo apparently promised to return $900,000 in 18 months.

However, more than a year and a half later, Mynett and Hailer only gave $300,000 to Mohd.

A lawsuit filed by Mohd's attorney claims the pair "fraudulently misrepresented … that estCru, LLC was a legitimate company."

But Hailer hit back, saying, "ESTCRU LLC like many wineries is living invoice to invoice, sale to sale to stay afloat given the economic conditions of the industry."

Their attorneys Mark Thomson and Andy Phillips told the Minnesota Reporter: "Any suggestion that Will or Tim deliberately defrauded investors or otherwise consciously conspired to rip people off would be false and defamatory."

Internet reacts as Ilhan Omar is accused of failing to properly disclose assets stemming from husband's ventures

Netizens didn't mince their words while bashing Rep Omar after the news of the NLPC complaint came to light.

One wrote, "Rough week for The Squad so far but it's only Wednesday. Plenty of time to get even worse," and another said, "She’ll keep breaking the law and doing shady business. Why would she stop when it’s worked out so well for her so far? Rules for thee but not for me type."

"Slowly, but surely the squad is going to be dismantled. first bowman, next Omar (hopefully)," remarked a person. Someone else expressed, "She is everything that’s wrong with the USA today, rolled up into one person. Quite an achievement really."

"Wish I could say I'm shocked! She needs to be taken out of office immediately! She's an infiltrator in our government," stated an individual, while another person noted, "When will all her crimes have consequences for her? Maybe the DoJ should focus on some REAL crimes committed by DEMOCRAT politicians."
