PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Melania Trump is set to make a bold return to the political spotlight as she will be hosting her inaugural event for the 2024 presidential election cycle on Saturday, April 20 at Mar-a-Lago.

The former first lady will be hosting a fundraiser event for the Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative group that advocates LGBTQ inclusion.

Inside Melania Trump's reentry into politics

Melania's return to politics was a move she recently hinted at during her visit to a polling place in Florida alongside her husband Donald Trump, a presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

In March, she stood behind the former president at Mar-a-Lago to welcome Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and in April she appeared disengaged during a campaign fundraiser.

According to People, an insider shared that they believe Melania will be interested in events and organizations that she personally supports.

"Melania does what she believes in and makes up her own mind,” the source told the outlet.

Another source shared that the former model "doesn’t care what anyone says about her, or what they think about who her friends are."

Reflecting on Melania's support for the LGBTQ community, an insider in the design world claimed that she has gay friends and also works with professionals from the LGBTQ community which proves her decision to host the fundraiser, unswayed by political expectations or public opinion.

The Log Cabin Republicans appear to help Trump's election campaign as the fundraiser hosted by Melania will mobilize voters in crucial swing states, where there is substantial support for LGBTQ rights.

Donald Trump's contradictory stance on LGBTQ issues

From promising protection for LGBTQ citizens and their rights during his Republican National Convention speech in 2016 to later implementing policies including the transgender military ban and nominating conservative justices has left many questioning Donald Trump's stance on the community's issues.

A political source told People that “since Donald tries to have it both ways, Melania has her work cut out for her.”

Despite the differences, Melania enjoys support from the Log Cabin Republicans, who honored her with the Spirit of Lincoln Award in 2021 as they shared she has a "passion for equality and believes in human rights."

Internet's reaction to Melania Trump's fundraiser event for the LGBTQ group

Melania has received both praise and criticism for hosting the fundraiser for the conservative LGBTQ group.

"That’s amazing Melania embodies Grace this will be a fabulously successful event," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) while another wrote, "She will epically fail at getting their support."

One user opined, "The first Trump administration consistently undermined the movement for LGBTQ+ equality, including with their choices for Supreme Court Justices. A second Trump administration will likely be even less friendly to LGBTQ+ Americans. Do your research before believing them."

"I think this is great!!!" a netizen remarked while another user commented, "Please do explain exactly what the GOP has done to improve the lives of the LGBQT community. I’ll wait."
