'She was humiliated': 'The View' hosts discuss Donald, Melania Trump's relationship outlined in new book
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed the relationship between the former first couple, Donald Trump and his third wife Melania, on the March 1 episode of 'The View.'
The subject was broached at the 'Hot Topics' table by Behar, who spoke of a new book by Katie Rogers, called 'American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden.'
"Some of the juiciest bits (of the book) involve former First Lady Melania Trump. One chapter claims once she found out about hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, she wanted to publicly humiliate him ... and even dropped out of going on an international trip with him so he had to travel solo," she stated.
Behar asked her co-hosts whether Melania would leave Trump if the latter lost the upcoming election, saying "She must be sicker of him than we are at this point."
Ana Navarro's take on the former First Couple
"I think she (Melania) made a deal with the Devil," Navarro responded to Behar's question and added, "But I also think she was publicly humiliated in the process and had every right to be angry."
"I'm a lot less interested in talking about Melania Trump," she quickly diverted, "Because she is no longer First Lady. She left the White House with one of the lowest approval ratings of 42%. Michelle Obama left with 69%, Laura Bush left with 67% approval rating."
"I want to talk about how refreshing it is, at least for me, to see a couple in the White House in Joe and Jill Biden who actually like each other, love each other, support each other ... After the four years of the dysfunction of Melania and Trump, this is like ... manna from heaven," she added.
Sunny Hostin claimed to have 'enjoyed' the read
Hostin confessed to being "petty" while stating that she enjoyed reading about the problems between the Trump couple.
She shared some of her favorite instances from the book, such as, "Apparently she (Melania) likes watching CNN and he (Trump) likes watching Fox, so there is a big argument there."
"She also decorated the White House ... she likes modern furniture and he likes gaudy gold furniture. So she ordered all this furniture and sent it, and then he had it replaced. That's juicy," she continued.
"Another (point) that I thought was very interesting was that she didn't seem to mind standing apart from her husband, and that includes the moment when in 2017, Donald said there were very fine people on both sides and she quickly discouraged violence. So there are some things about Melania that we learned here that were ... juicy tidbits, (as well as) interesting (and) gave us some more perspective."
"It doesn't excuse the fact that she desecrated the rose garden and made it look like a scary labyrinth..." she added, agreeing with Behar that it "looked like a cemetery."
