WASHINGTON, DC: After a community message was ostensibly posted from Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign account, Elon Musk accused her on Monday, July 1, of lying about former President Donald Trump's support for a national abortion ban, as per The Hill.

Attached is a screenshot of Harris’s statement with a community note adding context. Musk posted on X, "When will politicians, or at least the intern who runs their account, learn that lying on this platform doesn’t work anymore?"

Notably, there was no community note on Harris' post by Monday afternoon. When and how long the message was there are unclear.

Harris wrote in the original post, "Donald Trump would ban abortion nationwide. President @JoeBiden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women’s reproductive freedom."

Musk commented on Harris' post, "He clearly said he would not do so in the debate."

This cycle, Trump's stance on abortion has dominated several political discussions. He had been hinting for months that he would reveal his formal stance on the divisive topic, and in April he declared that states should have the autonomy to decide on abortion legislation.

Notably, he refrained from commenting on whether or not to sign a nationwide abortion ban at the time of that statement, saying instead that 'we don't need it any longer. Because we broke Roe v Wade.'

Moreover, the Biden-Harris camp retaliated against Musk's allegation by citing previous reports in which Trump was seen to have informally indicated his support for a 16-week ban before to his formal declaration on the matter.

The campaign also pointed out that Trump has frequently credited the three judges he chose for providing the majority needed to overturn Roe v Wade. Additionally, the campaign cited Trump's erratic public remarks made in recent months on the subject.

Campaign spokesperson James Singer said in a statement, "Elon Musk can Google it: Donald Trump wants to ban abortion nationwide, allow his allies to ban medication abortion and contraception, and use the power of the government to harass and punish women."

Singer added, "This election is a choice between codifying Roe and protecting women’s fundamental rights, and allowing extreme politicians to interfere with medical decisions and rip away freedoms."

Internet agrees with Musk as he accuses VP of lying about Trump’s stance on national abortion ban

Several internet users sided with Elon Musk as he accused Kamala Harris of lying about former President Donald Trump's support for a national abortion ban.

A user wrote on X, "I mean she was proven to be false," while one added, "It’s not a accusation it’s a fact she lied."

A person also stated, "It's an accurate accusation!" whereas one mentioned, "She did .. man tough to keep your integrity and miss the easy ones like this."

A user also wrote, "He didn't accuse her of lying. He simply pointed out that what she said was demonstrably false. It's possible she believed it was true, in which case she was merely mistaken, rather than a liar."
