WASHINGTON, DC: Bill Maher put former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on the spot during the Saturday, July 13 episode of HBO's 'Real Time'.

The late-night host confronted the Republican on Donald Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election and grilled him regarding his visit to Mar-A-Lago shortly after the January 6 insurrection.

"Did he win that election, Biden?" asked Bill Maher to Kevin McCarthy, and the latter answered, "Yes."

McCarthy affirmed, "I said from the beginning. I have no qualms with that," leading Maher to ask him, "And you actually told that to Trump?"

"Yes," responded the former House speaker.

"And then you switched," said the 'Real Time' host. McCarthy objected, but Maher continued, "You went down to Mar-A-Lago and kissed his a** after that."

The Republican dismissed Maher's remark as "bulls**t" and retorted, "You’re so full of c**p." He added, "I was going to see Donald Trump. He’s my friend. I served with him. Just like I do anybody else."

Following the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, the former speaker delivered a speech on the House floor on January 13, 2021, condemning the siege as "un-American" and "criminal." He explicitly stated that Trump bore responsibility for the events.

As Democrats pursued impeachment proceedings against Trump, the former California lawmaker advocated for a fact-finding commission and a censure resolution.

However, on January 28, 2021, just a week after Trump left office, McCarthy reportedly visited the former president at Mar-a-Lago. This visit was widely seen as the former president's initial move toward a political comeback.

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts on Bill Maher and Kevin McCarthy's conversation, with many finding the late-night host's probing questions to be quite insightful.

One viewer questioned a move made by the 'Real Time' studio audience, writing, "The most disturbing thing about this was that the audience gave McCarthy a STANDING OVATION when he came out!! somebody explain this?"

Joining the discussion, a person shared, "Kevin is so dishonest. Glad Bill calls out this BS false equivalence." Someone else wrote, "McCarthy sold what little soul he had to become speaker. He and the GOP MAGA’s

comprise a house which has passed less legislation than any house in decades. Both McCarthy and Johnson are a joke. They are just lying GOP court jesters for Trump."

"America is sick of all our politicians constantly kissing each other's a***s for their cut of the money," stated a YouTube user, while an individual took a dig at the former speaker saying, "McCarthy has great posture for someone without a spine."

"Damn, he really said he kissed Donald‘s a** to his face that was savage!" exclaimed a viewer, praising Maher. Another person echoed, "That was brutal! That’s exactly how they should be spoken to."

"A man who was run out of office by his own party is giving opinions," quipped a person, pointing to McCarthy's ousting.
