WASHINGTON, D.C.: Elon Musk, the tech billionaire who owns X (formerly, Twitter) stated on Friday that President Joe Biden is attempting to "get as many illegals in the country as possible" in order to establish a "one-party state."

Musk reposted an Associated Press article on X that said Biden would “prioritize legal status for millions of immigrants.”

He remarked, “Biden’s strategy is very simple: 1. Get as many illegals in the country as possible. 2. Legalize them to create a permanent majority – a one-party state. That is why they are encouraging so much illegal immigration. Simple, yet effective.”

ICE deported 142,000 immigrants in 2023

The tech tycoon’s views, albeit controversial, echo the reports from mainstream media sources that contend the Biden administration has deported fewer migrants year-on-year than the Trump administration.

Per The Washington Post, the annual report published by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Friday, December 29 reveals that in fiscal year 2023, the agency deported over 142,000 immigrants, which was almost twice the number from the previous year.

The Biden administration increased border enforcement in 2023 to prevent illegal immigration into the United States.

In another tweet, Musk, who supposedly voted for President Joe Biden in 2020, claimed that the 81-year-old’s supposed strategy “explains why there are so few deportations, as every deportation is a lost vote.”

He continued, “As happened this week, you can literally assault police officers in broad daylight in New York, be released with no bail, give everyone the finger and *still* not be deported!! Outrageous.”

The incident Musk referred to in his tweet involved a group of migrants who attacked two NYPD officers in Times Square last week, causing widespread outrage across the country, as per a report by the Daily Mail.

The incident occurred when officers attempted to disperse a disorderly group in front of 220 West 42 Street.

A melee broke out between a suspect wearing a yellow sweatshirt and the police officers.

The migrants then allegedly started attacking the police officers, kicking them in the head and body while the two officers attempted to pin down one of the other males who was involved in the violent altercation.

Consequently, seven arrests were made, and four suspects were released from court without bail, which generated further controversy, especially when reports emerged that the four released suspects skipped town on a bus to California using a church-affiliated migrant charity.

Over 2 million illegal migrants entered the US during Biden’s term

The number of illegal immigrants entering the country has increased significantly, with over 2 million such immigrants entering the country during the 2023 fiscal year, as per reports.

The United States Customs and Border Patrol has recorded a total of 5,940,511 encounters during President Biden's first three years in office.

This represents a 277 percent increase compared to the same period during the Trump administration (2017 to 2019).

Many Republicans blame the Biden administration for the surge in illegal immigration, attributing it to the relaxation of several Trump-era border restrictions.

President Joe Biden’s Democratic party, however, has deemed these policies inhumane and ineffective.

The concerns surrounding immigration and border security remain high on the list of priorities for conservative voters, especially with the upcoming November 5 election, where President Biden is seeking a second term, and Trump is the leading candidate for his party's presidential nomination.

In September 2023, during his visit to Eagle Pass, Texas, Musk live-streamed his experience of viewing the southern border. He has previously argued that gaining asylum status after illegally crossing the border is as easy as conducting a Google search.

Despite the harsh criticism directed at Biden's handling of the border, fellow Democrats are also calling for stronger action, including Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and the respective mayors of New York City and Chicago.
