WASHINGTON, DC: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump doubled down on his attack on President Joe Biden's border management through a new campaign ad, reported The Hill.

A 30-second ad posted on the former President's Truth Social platform on Friday, February 2, 2023, targeted Biden's response to a media person who asked if he could do more with the executive authority to solve the worsening migrant crisis at the US southern border.

The ad titled "CRISIS AT THE BORDER" constantly repeated the President's response to the reporter, "I've done all I can do. Give me the power." It ended with a strong criticism against Biden, stating, "YOU DID THIS JOE."

Based on an Associated Press report, the Border Patrol agents made 249,785 arrests at the US-Mexico border in December 2023 alone.

It has become evident that the skyrocketing illegal migration at the southern border will be a decisive factor in the 2024 presidential election, which looks likely be a Biden-Trump rematch.

Trump attacks Biden amid ongoing border deal negotiations

As Biden struggles to overcome the obstacles in the emerging bipartisan border deal, Trump has actively pressured the GOP senators to thwart it to prevent a legislative win for his potential opponent before the November election.

Moreover, the former President explicitly stated his opposition to the bill, claiming it was unnecessary and that it could put the blame on Republican shoulders. Though he denied lobbying to kill the bill, Trump recently told the media that his opposition did not stem from political reasons but rather US reasons.

On Friday, February 3, Sen Chris Murphy, a key negotiator, announced on X that the Senators have reached a deal. The text of the bill will be released over the weekend.

Aligning with Trump, Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, also used his maiden floor speech to slam the incumbent's border management policies.

Biden's failure to secure the border is evident in the polls, resulting in a tie with Trump or a slight lead for him over the President.

Meanwhile, Trump has set his path clear to be the Republican presidential nominee as he is dominating the polls along with victories in New Hampshire and Iowa against his sole GOP opponent, Nikki Haley.

Internet reacts to Trump's campaign ad

Outraged with Trump's constant attack on Biden on the border crisis, social media users slammed the former, pointing out that he was using the issue for election gains.

One user wrote, "It's the only thing he has to run on. Republicans have done nothing for years and are simply wasting our time."

Another user opined, "So what exactly did trump get done while he had both Senate and house?? SMH. Nothing lasting."

"LOL. The Projectionist strikes again!" a third user added.

Another user questioned, "But if Trump fixed it how did Biden start it again?"

One response read, "Trump 'blame me for the border deal not happening'."

A sixth response read, "Y’all need the crisis to campaign on. You don’t really want to fix it."
