WASHINGTON, DC: A war of words has erupted within Republican circles over recent comments made by former South Carolina Governor and presidential contender Nikki Haley regarding the discrimination she claims she experienced as an Indian American child growing up in the South.

Haley's claims of being "teased every day for being brown" prompted a swift and biting video rebuke from right-wing comedian Terrence K Williams, who publicly mocked her self-description as a "brown girl."

Williams' comedic takedown has since gone viral, earning praise across social media.

The comments in question came during a joint interview Haley gave to NBC News and The Des Moines Register. She spoke about her experiences growing up in rural South Carolina as part of the only Indian American family in her small southern town.

"We were the only Indian family in our small southern town. I was teased every day for being brown. So anyone who wants to question it can go back and look at what I’ve said on how hard it was to grow up in the Deep South as a brown girl," Haley stated.

She went on to share a specific anecdote about being disqualified from a beauty pageant competition for not fitting established racial categories.

"If you want to know what it was like growing up, I was disqualified from a beauty pageant because I wasn’t white or black because they didn’t know where to put me. So look, I know the hardships, the pain that come with racism."

Williams, an African American stand-up comedian and vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, took issue with Haley referring to herself as "brown." He posted a video mocking her comments, which quickly went viral.

In his characteristic style, Williams playfully compared Haley's skin tone to various objects and mockingly declared himself the only White family in Compton, California. Williams concluded his video by comically asserting that Haley couldn't be the president of the United States because she doesn't even know what color she is.
