Internet calls it 'crazy' as authorities find body of David Schultz who went missing while delivering pigs
LAKE VIEW, CHICAGO: Authorities have discovered the body of David Schultz, a 53-year-old truck driver from Iowa, five months after he disappeared just days before Thanksgiving.
Schultz was scheduled to transport pigs to a farm near Sac City on November 21, 2023, the day he went missing.
Additionally, Schultz's wife shared details about David Schultz's personality, particularly his relationship with their children, and conveyed her emotions concerning the unresolved aspects of his passing.
David Schultz’s body identified using dental records
The body found in Sac County on April 24 has been identified as David Schultz through dental records, as confirmed by the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
According to the agency, Schultz was found in a farm field in the 1900 block of Union Ave. in Sac County. Authorities stated on April 25 that foul play is not suspected in his death.
According to the press release, “Preliminary autopsy results show no signs of trauma or serious injury. Further autopsy test results are pending.”
How did David Schultz's wife react?
Before a confirmed identification was made, David's wife, Sarah, received information suggesting that the individual whose body was discovered was wearing boots similar to her husband's and that his keys were found in the pants pocket.
Sarah informed reporters on April 25, "He was such a good father."
Further expressing her feelings, she stated, "It’s not fair." Sarah remarked that although she's relieved they now know where he is, there are still numerous unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. "Things don't make sense," she concluded.
David Schultz was reported missing the day he was to deliver pigs
According to the Lake View Police Department and the Sac County Sheriff's Office, Schultz was reported missing on November 21. He was last contacted earlier that morning.
Schultz, a married father of twin boys from Wall Lake, was supposed to deliver pigs to a farm.
His semi-trailer truck was discovered later that afternoon on northbound US Highway 71, near its intersection with US Highway 20.
Although the trailer was not parked on the side of the road, the engine was still running, and the pigs were inside the truck.
Following his disappearance, hundreds of people searched for Schultz.
The reward for information about Schultz's disappearance initially began at $2,000 in December, as reported by the Storm Lake Times Pilot. Since then, the reward has exceeded $25,000, as per Des Moines Register.
