NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam the formation of a new national office to help implement the 'red flag' gun laws on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

According to The Guardian, Vice President Kamala Harris announced the launch of the federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center (ERPO) while visiting the site of 2018's deadly high school shootout in Parkland, Florida.

The initiative is funded by the Justice Department and follows President Joe Biden’s establishment of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention in September 2023.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the US Representative for Georgia, retweeted the post by the US Department of Justice about the launch, which carried a message from Attorney General Merrick Garland.

"The launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center will provide our partners across the country with valuable resources to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others," read Garland's statement.

"The establishment of the Center is the latest example of the Justice Department's work to use every tool provided by the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to protect communities from gun violence," it added.

Greene wrote her interpretation of the DOJ's statement in her post, "Merrick Garland just announced a massive Red Flag Operation that the DOJ will be running by using EVERY spy tool the US government has in order to violate American’s Second Amendment!! This comes right after Johnson fully funded Biden’s weaponized DOJ!"

Internet trolls Marjorie Taylor Greene as she slams new gun control laws

Netizens did not side with Marjorie Taylor Greene for outraging over gun control laws.

"Keep guns out of the hands of suicide prone individuals is a bad thing? Or those who threatened others with killing them! GOOD it's about time," wrote a social media user.

"Other than a constant feed of…. Morning Conspiracies Afternoon Conspiracies & Nightly Conspiracies What else does Marjorie Taylor Greene give Americans?" asked another.

"Republicans now support firearms being in the hands of dangerous people," noted one individual.

"MTG = Trump Drama Queen Jester - you cry wolf all the time do you think we would believe you that it is a problem? Are you afraid of the DOJ?" asked another.

"I did not see anything in that statement calling for spy tools. Even you complain about illegals having guns. And it’s not an order to violate the 2nd amendment," commented one person.
