WASHINGTON, DC: Marjorie Taylor Greene doubled down on her bid to remove fellow Republican Mike Johnson as House speaker ahead of the 2024 presidential election in a brief interview with CNN on the steps of Capitol Hill on Friday, March 22.

Sharing the clip over her social media, the Georgia Representative once again slammed the second minibus spending bill, which was essential to avert a shutdown.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rep Greene shared the clip of her conversation with a CNN journalist, who is seen asking her, "Do you really think there is someone who can get 218 votes to become Speaker of the House?"

She replied, "I certainly hope so," as the correspondent reminded her of the difficulty faced by the House GOP in appointing a Speaker six months ago. Speaker Johnson was voted into office by Republicans in October 2023 after they ousted Kevin McCarthy from the seat.

"It was hard to (do) the last time," admitted Greene, adding, "But look at where we are now. They just passed a funding bill that doesn't secure our border, does nothing to stop the daily invasion. This budget funds full-term abortion. It funds DEI. It funds trans ideology on our youth as young as 12 years old. We are already in crisis, so it is time for real leadership."

Subsequently, the interviewer asked, "Is it the fight you want to have in an election year?" to which the Georgia Rep responded in the affirmative.

Greene elaborated, "Absolutely, it's the fight I want to have in an election year because dammit, I want to win that House."

"I want to win the White House, I want to win the Senate, and I want to restore this country back to greatness again, back to safety, back to security for every single American, because right now we don't have it and that's the fault of Democrats and the Biden administration," asserted the congresswoman.

Greene captioned her post, "The 'Republican-controlled' House just passed a $1.2 trillion spending bill that doesn’t secure our border, but funds full term abortion and trans ideology on our youth. I filed a Motion to Vacate because the House needs a Speaker who’s able to win for Republicans and our constituents."

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's post regarding House Speaker Mike Johnson

One wrote, "This lady tries to do as little actual work as possible. I’d like to pass a motion where we stop paying this persons salary!"

Another expressed, "You’re too busy giving a press conference to bring it to the floor for a vote," while a person added, "So let me get this straight: Republicans are upset about a spending bill they had plenty of opportunity to influence and shape? Sounds like someone's playing the blame game."

Someone else remarked, "Keep complaining about the border when you called a conservative bipartisan border bill dead on arrival before you ever had the chance to read it. You don't try to solve problems Ms. Greene. You lie, obstruct, and play the victim to get air time and sound bites."

"Ummm Marge, it seems you 'control' nothing. You are a worthless mouthpiece for Trump," stated an individual, highlighting Green's support for Donald Trump and his MAGA movement.
