NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Speaker Mike Johnson took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, March 20, to share the commitment of House GOP members to their foundational principles.

However, many people online were not satisfied with his assurances and slammed him for not executing his duties.

Speaker Mike Johnson's tweet

Johnson uploaded a clip on X, where he referenced the change of Speaker mid-course of Congress as "unprecedented".

"And yet, we have to govern and we have to demonstrate that we can keep this together and keep the train on the tracks. And we are... by getting appropriations bills done, and by moving key pieces of legislation, and by keeping the team together, we have demonstrated that," he proceeds.

"How do we stay focused? How do we do that? To me it was down to adhering and holding fast to our foundational principles," shares Johnson.

"There is a move afoot to change the foundational principles in America," the things that he claimed, "have made America the best nation in the history of the world."

"The reason is ... I call it the seven core principles of American conservatism, but it's really the seven core principles of America itself ... it's individual freedom, limited government, the rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets, human dignity. Those are the fixed points in the horizon."

"When you're in unchartered waters as we are ... you have to know where the fixed points in the horizon are. Those are our fixed points, and what I try to do every day is make sure we are still anchored to that, that we are not adrift out on the sea. And I think that's going to serve us well," he adds.
