WASHINGTON, DC: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene's endorsement of Brandon Gill for the US Congress backfired on the candidate, with social media users claiming that it will ruin his political career.

Running for election to the US House to represent the 26th Congressional District of Texas, Gill is on the ballot in the Republican primary on March 5, 2024.

He is also on Team Trump for the 2024 presidential election, like Greene. The former president had already endorsed Gill for his bid to represent his state back in December 2023, over a post on Truth Social.

Gill shared the endorsement on X with the caption, "I am humbled and honored to share that I’ve been officially endorsed by President Donald J. Trump in my run for US Congress in TX-26. To the people of TX-26 and President Trump: I will not let you down."

Brandon Gill's endorsement tweet from Marjorie Taylor Greene

Taking to the social media platform on January 20, the Georgia Representative wrote, "The America First movement needs more recruits on Capitol Hill, patriots who will fight to protect our freedom, defend our borders, and support the working people of this country. That's why I'm proud to endorse @realBrandonGill for Texas' 26th Congressional District."

"When he comes to Washington, I know that Brandon will be a tireless fighter for the America First agenda and have a servants' heart for the people of his district. We need people like him in Washington more than ever," the statement continued.

Greene concluded by quipping, "For the first time, I mean it when I say, 'Let's Go Brandon.’"

Internet responds to Greene's endorsement post

X users trolled Greene for the tweet. They claimed that it would hurt Gill more than it would help him to succeed in his efforts.

"Damn. Kiss of death to be endorsed by Marge," wrote a user on X.

"This endorsement definitely works against him!!" stated a second.

"Poor guy. You just ruined any chance he had," echoed a third.

"Damn, he's going to lose. LOL MAGA is poison to political careers," said another.

"Any endorsement from you is an automatic NO!" mentioned a fifth user, addressing the congresswoman.
