Internet convinced Donald Trump trolled UK PM Keir Starmer after they accidentally wear matching suits

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, seemed to be twinning as the duo appeared to be wearing similar suits during the British leader’s visit to the White House.

On Thursday, February 27, the British PM visited the White House for the first time since President Trump won the 2024 US presidential election and was greeted by him at the entrance of the building.

Soon, a video from the leaders’ initial meeting made its way to the internet, with several netizens finding it hilarious that the 78-year-old GOP leader seemed to be commenting on the British state leader’s suit.

In a video that went viral soon after, it can be seen that after greeting Sir Keir Starmer at the White House, President Donald Trump noticed that both of them were, in fact, wearing very similar suits, as reported by Irish Star

In good faith, the American commander-in-chief slapped Starmer on the shoulder as he appeared to praise his British counterpart for the suit. Soon, the exchange brewed a storm online, with several social media users quipping that Lord Waheed Alli “would be pleased” by the compliment.

The latest slew of social media comments could be referencing the controversy of Sir Keir Starmer receiving “freebies” - including luxury work wear and glasses - from the Labour Party peer Lord Waheed Alli. 

Lord Alli, who was made a peer by Sir Tony Blair, was appointed Sir Keir Starmer's chief campaign fundraiser in 2022, per Sky News

As reported by Daily Mail, the 60-year-old entrepreneur donated work clothes estimated to be worth $40,000 and designer glasses worth $3000 to the Prime Minister.

Social media terms Donald Trump and Keir Starmer's exchange as 'awkward'

The internet was surprised by the exchange between Donald Trump and Sir Keir Starmer, as several social media users even referenced the oft-quoted stance of Labour MP Lord Waheed Alli bankrolling the British PM's luxurious workwear. 

One of the netizens quipped, "He knows that Lord Alli bought it for him. Hilarious guy."



 

Someone else hypothesized, "Sounds like “where’d you get the suit”."



 

"Lord Ali would be pleased," declared another social media user. 



 

Another user chimed in, "Starmer would be wearing the most expensive one that Lord Alli bought him - Trump possibly asking which bespoke tailor Lord Alli bought the suits from."



 

"Thank Lord Ali for that," reminded someone else. 



 

"Really he's complimenting Lord Alli....," penned another user. 



 

Someone else added, "He knows Lord Alli got the suit for him. He’s trolling the s*** out of him, and he’s only just arrived."



 

"Praised his suit bought for him by lord ali. I mean what else can he praise him for seriously?" asked another user before declaring, "Awkward 😂."



 

"Trump is asking who bought it for him," noted another disgruntled user.



 

Someone else declared simply, "Trump knows it’s from Lord Ali."
