WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Jasmine Crockett accused Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene of being a "racist" for commenting on her physical appearance during a House Oversight meeting that detoured into a war of words between the legislators, reported The Hill.

The panel met on Thursday, May 16, evening to forward the contempt proceedings against Attorney General Merrick Garland, which turned into personal attacks when the Georgia Republican insulted Crockett's looks.

"I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you're reading," Greene said.

"She is racist. I mean, I don't have any questions about that. Because, I mean, I don't know that she's ever attacked her own colleagues," the Democratic congresswoman told reporters on Friday, May 18, condemning her GOP colleague's personal attacks.

Jasmine Crockett denounces Marjorie Taylor Greene's comments

Jasmine Crockett deemed Greene's verbal onslaught against her racist, claiming the Georgia lawmaker did not attack the appearance of other colleagues, including Rep Lauren Boebert, with whom she has differences.

"Her and Boebert aren't getting along. Boebert has clip-ins in her hair. And Boebert wears lashes, too, sometimes — it looks like. I don't know. But she doesn't attack her for any of her [physical embellishments]. She doesn't do that, right? But she decided to do it to me. So absolutely [she's a racist]," the Texas Democrat argued.

"She probably will raise money, because the racists are going to be so happy to give it to her."

The chaos that led to Greene mocking Crockett's eyelashes came after the latter questioned the GOP legislator about what her comments had to do with Garland and whether she knew why the lawmakers were in the meeting.

Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez too called out Greene's remarks and urged her for an apology.

Further into the meeting, Crockett came up with a hypothetical comment, taking an indirect swipe at the GOP member. The Texas Democrat inquired if her talking about "somebody's bleach blond bad built butch body" was a violation of congressional protocol.

Greene later addressed the issue in a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter), arguing she was "upset and disgusted pretty much everyday at the Democrat-controlled DOJ, federal government, and Congress in general."

"Pardon me if I don't talk as nicely as some people would like to hear," she added.

Internet criticizes Jasmine Crockett for calling MTG 'racist'

Netizens called out the Democrat for pulling the race card over comments about fake eyelashes,

One user labeled the racist criticism "Nonsense." Meanwhile, another wrote, "Immediately go to the R word.. Elected Democrats, have one mantra."

"When all you search for is racism, racism is all you will find. Democrats have destroyed the word and it's value, mainly through their copious use of it to project their parties core racist values," a third user added.

A fourth response read, "She never said anything racist...just about those overgrown eyelashes." Another person asked, "Wow. Eyelashes are now racist ? Who knew."

Someone else claimed, "It was snarky but not racist." An individual said, "Calling someone out for their fake eyelashes and being illiterate is not racism. It's just pointless out the obvious."

"Victimization is so overused," another user stated.
