LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher has never been one to mince words, especially when it comes to criticizing former President Donald Trump.

Maher has repeatedly expressed his disdain for Trump's policies, which he believes are not only detrimental but also reflective of a divisive and authoritarian approach to governance.

In one of his 'Real Time with Bill Maher' segments, Maher passionately stated, "If there's one thing that's even worse than his personality, it's his policy. Let me tell you what his policy is. Let's just go through the list, okay?"

Abortion and Supreme Court picks

Maher pointed to Trump's impact on abortion rights in America, attributing it to his strategic Supreme Court picks. Maher contends that Trump's choices for the Supreme Court have significantly influenced the legal landscape, effectively challenging the right to abortion. Maher suggested, "Even Republicans hate that."

Trade relations with China

Trump's approach to trade, particularly with China, is another aspect criticized by Maher. He asserted that Trump initiated a trade war with China, ultimately resulting in a loss for the United States. Maher contended, "He wants, in his new term, a 10% tariff on all imports. If you think inflation was bad now, what would that be after this too-great policy?"

Proposed tariffs on imports

In Maher's assessment of Trump's policies, the comedian raised concerns about the former president's proposal for a 10% tariff on all imports. Maher suggests, "If you think inflation was bad now, what would it be after this too-great policy?"

Increase in national debt

One of Maher's most emphatic critiques revolved around Trump's handling of the national debt. Maher contends that Trump's administration witnessed a substantial increase in the national debt, soaring by 39% within a single term. Maher argued, "He increased the debt by 39% in one term, which is pretty hard."

Immigration policies and the border wall

Trump's immigration policies, particularly the infamous border wall, were mocked by Maher. The comedian pointed out that the much-touted wall was never built, describing it as a misguided and impractical endeavor. Maher's criticism extended to what he perceives as Trump's inflammatory rhetoric surrounding immigration, which he likens to the divisive tactics employed by historical figures like Hitler. Maher quipped, "The stupid wall, which he never, ever built."

National security concerns

Maher expressed alarm at Trump's loose talk about using nuclear weapons, especially in the context of North Korea. He suggested that Trump's rhetoric regarding nuking North Korea and potentially blaming it on others raised serious national security concerns.

Maher's portrayal of Trump's approach to international relations underscored his view of the former president's policies as erratic and potentially dangerous. Maher highlighted, "He's talked loosely about nuking North Korea and blaming it on somebody else."

 Authoritarian and divisive rhetoric

In a rapid-fire critique, Maher highlighted Trump's praise for leaders like Vladimir Putin, comparing his speaking style to that of Adolf Hitler.

Maher accused Trump of fearmongering by depicting immigrants as poisoners of the American bloodline. He criticized Trump's calls for harsh penalties, including the death penalty for drug dealers and advocating for militia intervention in cities to combat crime. Maher pointed out, "Militia should be going into the city to fight crime. These are the policies. Yeah, you think these are good?"

Maher's blistering critique unveils Trump's policy landscape

Bill Maher shedding light on Trump's policies in controversial areas of abortion rights, trade relations, and the national debt was met with mixed reactions.

One user wrote, "I don’t mind Maher, but what he said is just factually flat out wrong."

Another added, "Some of these things were not even policies."

One replied, "Hard to deny how great his economy was for small businesses, mine included."

One commented, "I actually agree with almost everything but the debt and the import tax."
