WASHINGTON, DC: Mick Mulvaney, former President Donald Trump's acting chief of staff, said tech mogul Elon Musk often visited Trump in the White House during his presidency, reported The Hill.

"This is a dynamic that goes back several years — Elon Musk was in the White House fairly regularly when I was there," Mulvaney recalled during an interview on 'The Hill on NewsNation' on Thursday, March 14.

The former Trump aide's remarks came after the GOP presumptive nominee and the Space X CEO recently had a meal together near the Mar a Lago resort amid the former's attempts to increase his campaign funding for a rematch with President Joe Biden in November.

However, in a recent interview, Musk downplayed the meeting, saying, "I was at a breakfast at a friend's place, and Donald Trump came by. That's it."

Mick Mulvaney about the location of Trump-Musk meeting

Weighing in on Musk meeting with the ex-president outside of his Mar-a-Lago luxury resort in Palm Beach, Florida, Mulvaney said he would not read much into that.

"I'd read a little bit of that. That's a good point, as opposed to, you know, Trump calling him up and saying, 'Come on down to Mar a Lago' or something like that. I can see that," he said.

However, the former acting chief of staff said the meeting could have potentially stemmed from Trump's fascination with the media, adding, "I'm sure he's fascinated with Elon Musk's acquisition of X. He would love to see, be able to do something with Truth Social and X. So this is just Donald Trump being Donald Trump, the business person."

"I don't read too much into the power dynamic of where they were meeting and I guess if a former president of the United States was going to go anywhere, it would be to the first or second richest persons in the world's house," Mulvaney continued.

According to a recent report by The Washington Post, Trump had made a failed attempt to sell his Truth Social platform to Musk.

Furthermore, Musk announced that he would not donate money to either Trump or President Biden in the 2024 presidential election. "Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President," the tech giant said on X a day after his meeting with Trump.

Internet responds to Mulvaney's revelations

Netizens had a mixed response to Mulvaney's revelations of Musk's frequent White House visits during Trump's presidency. Some even considered the ex-president seeking counsel from a successful businessman a good idea.

One user wrote, "Great. The Kook and the Konvict."

"Musk is an oligarch," another person remarked.

A third user added, "Sounds about white."

"Good to hear Trump is talking to intelligent people, unlike Biden," another weighed in.

Someone else added, "Good. Glad a highly successful businessman who is literally changing the world via Tesla, SpaceX, X as a free speech platform and The Boring Company was providing counsel and ideas to President Trump. Sure beats Hunter and Soros visiting Biden IMHO."
