WASHINGTON, DC: Following the Colorado Supreme Court's historic decision on Tuesday, December 19, to declare former President Donald Trump unfit for office, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has vowed to remove his name from the Colorado primary ballot until Trump is reinstated on the ballot.

Ramaswamy reacted on X stating, "This is what an actual attack on democracy looks like: in an un-American, unconstitutional, and unprecedented decision, a cabal of Democrat judges are barring Trump from the ballot in Colorado."

He added, "Having tried every trick in the book to eliminate President Trump from running in this election, the bipartisan Establishment is now deploying a new tactic to bar him from ever holding office again: the 14th Amendment."

Ramaswamy wrote, "I pledge to withdraw from the Colorado GOP primary unless Trump is also allowed to be on the state’s ballot, and I demand that Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Nikki Haley to do the same immediately - or else they are tacitly endorsing this illegal maneuver which will have disastrous consequences for our country."

Invoking the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution, the Colorado Supreme Court disqualified Trump based on his actions during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The 4-3 decision from Tuesday is postponed until January 4 in anticipation of potential appeals. The Colorado Supreme Court's three justices dissented.

The court's majority wrote, "We do not reach these conclusions lightly. We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us. We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach."

Internet divided after Vivek Ramaswamy's decision

People on the Internet were divided as Vivek Ramaswamy vowed to withdraw from the Colorado primary ballot unless Trump was on it.

A user wrote, "Vivek will have a much brighter political future than DeSantis, Haley, or Christie!!" while one commented, "You won't have to because we will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand."

Another person wrote, "Vivek is right to withdraw and he’s right to demand that the other GOP candidates do similarly until Trump is put back on the ballot. Let the people decide who gets to be the nominee — not 4 unelected leftist judges. This is still America."

A user also mentioned, "Thank you, sir. You are on the right side of history with your well-reasoned rebuke of the attempted communist takeover of our elections. The fact that your opponents have yet to weigh in is not only disqualifying, it borders on treasonous."

Another person said, "You should drop out period, you don’t stand a chance and you know."
