SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg praised former President Donald Trump's reaction after getting shot at a campaign rally in Boston, Pennsylvania on July 13 as "badass" during a recent interview, reported Fox Business.

The comments were made by Zuckerberg during his interview with Bloomberg, where he refused to endorse any candidate for president in the upcoming general election. Notably, other tech leaders like Elon Musk have endorsed Trump.

The timing has raised eyebrows in many quarters, as GOP nominee Trump threatened Zuckerberg with imprisonment over claims of election fraud earlier this month.

Mark Zuckerberg's comments on Donald Trump's assassination attempt

In an interview clip shared by the media house over YouTube, Zuckerberg told interviewer Emily Chang that he will not be endorsing any candidate for the 2024 election before bringing up the "crazy stuff" going on in the world.

He referred to the assassination attempt on Trump over the weekend, saying, "On a personal note, it's, you know, seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most bad**s things I've ever seen in my life."

One of the bullets fired at Trump by 20-year-old Thomas Crooks had grazed Trump's right year, but he remained relatively unharmed through the incident. However, the gunfire claimed the life of one rally-goer who was protecting his family, and critically injured two others.

"But look, I mean ... I think at some level as an American, it's like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight," he continued. "I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy."

Netizens are taken aback by Mark Zuckerberg's comments

People reacting to the news over the social media platform X appeared surprised by Zuckerberg's remarks. While some mistrusted him outright, others wondered what brought about his sudden admiration for Trump, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"OK, admittedly, I did not have this on my bingo card whatsoever," wrote a person.

"Sounds like he is preparing for a Trump win and trying to be on his good side," guessed another.

"Afraid of being investigated is he ????" inquired a third.

"I don’t trust him at all," jibed a fourth.

"The woke are waking up!" quipped a fifth.
