ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Tensions ran high during the first installment of the 2024 presidential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump as they got into an argument about adult film star Stormy Daniels, with the 81-year-old POTUS saying his predecessor has the “morals of an alley cat.”

According to Daily Mail, the presumptive presidential nominees of the two respective parties engaged in a contentious exchange regarding Trump's legal issues, with Biden making allegations about Trump's personal life.

These personal attacks culminated in a discussion about their golfing abilities. Of note was Biden's accusation that Trump had an affair with Daniels while Melania Trump was pregnant with Barron, an allegation that Trump has consistently denied.

What were some of the personal attacks Trump and Biden hit each other with during the 90-minute televised debate?

The debate took a personal turn when President Joe Biden accused the 78-year-old MAGA strongman of seeking a second term in the White House for exacting retribution against his political opponents.

The Commander-in-Chief stated, "The only person in this stage is a convicted felon is the man I'm looking at right now."

In response, Trump brought up Biden's son Hunter, who was convicted of three felonies related to a 2018 gun purchase.

“We're going to make this country successful again, because right now it's a failing nation. My retribution is going to be success. But when he talks about a convicted felon, his son is a convicted felon. At a very high level. His son is convicted,” the ex-president said.

The embattled 45th President of the United States reiterated that he is a victim of politics.

“Joe could be a convicted felon with all of the things that he's done,” Trump remarked, referring to the incumbent’s policies at the border and in Ukraine.

The former POTUS alleged, “This man is a criminal. This man — you're lucky. You're lucky. I did nothing wrong. We'd have a system that was rigged and disgusting. I did nothing wrong.”

The Democrat statesman retaliated by mentioning Trump's alleged affair, which supposedly occurred while former first lady Melania Trump was pregnant with Barron.

The 2024 presumptive Republican nominee denied the affair, however, he was convicted on 34 felony counts in New York related to hush money payments made to Daniels in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

Biden further criticized Trump's behavior and morals, saying, “The crimes you are still charged with and think of all the civil penalties you have - how many billions of dollars in civil penalties for molesting a woman of public, for doing a whole range of things, of having sex with a porn star on the night while your wife is pregnant? What are you talking about?”

“You have the morals of an alley cat,” he remarked.

Trump responded by denying the purported affair and implying that the legal case against him was initiated by high-ranking Democrat officials, expressing confidence in appealing his conviction.

“I didn't have sex with a porn star number one. They moved a high ranking official at DOJ into the Manhattan DA 's office to start that case. That case is going to be appealed and one we had a very terrible judge.”

He also boasted about his increased poll numbers and campaign fundraising, noting, “My poll numbers went up way up you know ... and we took in more money in the last two weeks than we've ever taken in the history of any campaign. I don't think any campaign has ever taken hundreds of millions of dollars came pouring in. Because the public knows it's a scam.”

It is expected that the former president will appeal his conviction.

What other personal attacks did the two presidential candidates accuse each other of?

The personal attacks escalated, extending to their respective ages, cognitive abilities, and golf skills.

CNN moderator Dana Bash asked President Biden to address voter concerns regarding his advanced age, him being 81 years old, and whether he is fit for a second term.

Biden pointed out that he was once the youngest person in politics and was elected to the US Senate at 30 years old.

The president claimed, “I spent half my career being the youngest person in politics. I was the second youngest person ever elected to the United States Senate.”

“And now I'm the oldest, this guy's three years younger, a lot less competent,” Biden said referring to his opponent.

Similarly, Trump was asked by the moderator to address his mental acuity.

The real estate magnate bragged about his mental fitness, claiming he had “aced” two cognitive assessments and emerged victorious in what he described as “not even senior” but regular golf contests, bagging two championships at his golf course.

“I took two cognitive tests, I aced them,” Trump remarked, adding. “I just won two club championships, not even senior, regular.”

“To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to hit the ball a long way,” he noted.

Furthermore, Trump commented on Biden's physical abilities, saying, “He can't hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match, he can’t hit a ball 50 yards. I think I'm in very good shape. I feel that um, is in good shape as I was 25-30 years ago. Actually, I'm probably a little bit lighter. But I'm in as good shape as I was years ago. I feel very good. I feel the same.”

Biden countered by poking fun at his predecessor's claimed height and weight, saying, “You can see he is six foot five and only 220.”

“Just take a look at what he says he is. Take a look at what he is. Look I'd be happy to have a driving contest. For him. I got my handicap, which when I was vice president, down to a six by the way I told you before, I'm happy to play golf. If you carry your own bag.”

Trump responded by calling Biden's handicap claim the "biggest lie."

As the network moderators attempted to move away from the personal attacks, Trump said, “Let's not be children.”

Biden retorted, “You are a child.”
