ATLANTA, GEORGIA: President Joe Biden turned aggressive during the first presidential debate with his predecessor, Donald Trump, when the topic turned to military affairs.

During their first face-off hosted by CNN on Thursday, June 27, in Atlanta, Georgia, the 81-year-old blasted the former president, referring to a 2020 article by The Atlantic where the latter allegedly labeled the fallen American soldiers "losers" and "suckers".

Biden mentioned Trump's 2018 visit to the World War I cemetery in Paris, where the then-president stood with “his four-star general and he told him, ‘I don’t want to go in there because they’re a bunch of losers and suckers'."

Joe Biden brings up late son Beau to attack Donald Trump's alleged comment on fallen American troops

While blasting Trump for making the purported remarks, the president mentioned his late son Beau Biden's military service before he succumbed to brain cancer.

“My son was not a loser, was not a sucker. You’re the sucker, you’re the loser,” an outraged Biden said, pointing his fingers at the MAGA spearhead.

Trump, who often denied that he had made those comments, doubled down on the denial on the CNN presidential debate stage.

“First of all, that was a made-up quote, ‘suckers and losers.’ They made it up. It was in a third-rate magazine that’s failing, like many of these magazines,” the former president argued. “To think that I would, in front of generals and others, say ‘suckers and losers.’”

The real estate mogul asserted that the president made up the quote and demanded an apology from him. However, Biden did not yield to the demand, stating he would not apologize “for anything along the line".

In the ongoing neck-to-neck presidential race, the Biden campaign had highlighted Trump's comments on dead US soldiers for the D-Day video to attract military veterans.

Earlier this month, the former president denied making the alleged remarks in a Truth Social rant, claiming that the "radical left Democrats and Trump haters" made up the "disinformation."

Internet criticizes Joe Biden for mentioning Donald Trump's alleged remarks on dead US soldiers

Netizens slammed Biden for repeating the same criticism mentioning his son's death while criticizing Trump for reportedly calling dead US soldiers "losers" and "suckers".

"Joe Biden sounds like a two year old kid," a user said.

"We've resorted to name calling and dementia attacks... We're screwed man," another opined.

"His son didn’t die in a war…why does he keep saying that?" asked a third user.

"You’re stuck on that statement. Give us something that’ll help us," read a fourth response.

"Understandable, yes. Appropriate, no. Stooping to that only drags him down to tRUmp's level, where he'll be beaten with experience. Better off to laugh at him, he hates being the butt of a joke," another person wrote.

"Beau was a lawyer in the Army, and died in Delaware. It’s ghoulish he keeps pulling this card out," someone else chimed in.

"That’s the only coherent thing you could utter. Your rambling is mind numbing," an individual argued.

"All you freaks do is pander Beau Biden’s death around like some campaign token," another user said.
