WASHINGTON, DC: Three years after former President Donald Trump was removed from Elon Musk's social media platform X due to the Capitol rioting on January 6, the New York Post reports that Musk will host a town hall with Trump.

Trump, who was found guilty on Thursday, May 30, for the payment of hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels, will respond to questions from the public during the livestream event. The event will also be televised courtesy of a cable station NewsNation deal.

In addition, the social media company has planned a comparable town hall with Robert F Kennedy Jr, the independent presidential candidate.

According to The Wall Street Journal, which broke the story of the X sit-downs first, President Joe Biden was approached by the social media platform to participate in a debate or town hall, but he turned it down.

The town halls' time, venue, and moderators are still to be confirmed. Questions will be posted by X users, but the moderators will ultimately decide what is asked.

According to Axios, among the moderators will probably be at least one NewsNation presenter and other journalists.

The first of Trump's two debates with Biden is scheduled for June 27. In 2023, during a town hall, he notably dominated CNN's, Kaitlan Collins.

Notably, the parent company of NewsNation, Nexstar Media Group, was approached by X CEO Linda Yaccarino with the first concept for the town halls.

Moreover, since Musk bought the formerly-known Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022, Trump's ban was lifted, although he has only tweeted once on X since then.

According to Bloomberg News, Trump and Musk met to discuss a variety of topics, including cryptocurrency regulation and the possibility of inviting the billionaire to speak at the Republican National Convention this summer. Musk has not been shy in expressing his dissatisfaction with Biden.

Although he normally supports measures that transfer power from the government to the people, which cryptocurrency may accomplish, Musk stated on X that he was 'pretty sure I've never discussed crypto with Trump'.

Internet divided as X to stage town hall livestream with Donald Trump

People on the internet stayed divided and had mixed opinions as X plans to host a town hall with Donald Trump. A user posted on X, "This is one livestream that I’m going to watch," while one added, "Going to be the highest ratings ever."

A person also stated, "Musk will do anything to protect his money," wheres one mentioned, "so basically Trump can lie his a** off and nobody will be able to fact check him."

A user also stated, "Grifters gonna grift," while one wrote, "...from prison?"
