WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump expressed outrage on Thursday, June 6, after a federal judge ordered his longtime ally Steve Bannon to report to prison and serve sentence by July 1.

Bannon, along with Peter Navarro, another former Trump aide, has been sentenced for refusing to comply with the congressional investigation led by the now-disbanded January 6 committee.

Trump called the situation a “Total and Complete American Tragedy” and suggested that members of the House panel should be indicted, claiming they had committed crimes by allegedly deleting and destroying evidence.

Trump claimed in a Truth Social post that the members of the House panel, which investigated the January 6, 2021, riots, “deleted and destroyed all material evidence.”

“The unAmerican Weaponization of our Law Enforcement has reached levels of Illegality never thought possible before. Indict the unselect J6 committee for illegally deleting and destroying all of their 'findings'!’” he asserted.

Donald Trump says he has every right to go after his opponents

Trump's post follows interviews suggesting it would be fair game for his political opponents to be prosecuted if he wins the White House in November.

Trump has been vocal about the ongoing prosecutions, stating that the Biden administration played a role in his legal battles despite a lack of evidence supporting this claim.

“It has to stop, because, otherwise, we’re not going to have a country,” Trump said on Fox News regarding the prosecutions of political opponents.

"Look, when this election is over, based on what they have done, I would have every right to go after them," he added.

The House select committee, which included seven Democrats and two Republicans, former GOP Representative Liz Cheney(Wyo) and Adam Kinzinger (Ill), spent months investigating the January 6 Capitol attack, according to The Hill.

They held public hearings detailing their findings about the riot and Trump’s actions leading up to it.
