Internet 'not surprised' as Huma Abedin unveils relationship with Dem donor Alex Soros on Valentine's Day
WASHINGTON, DC: Huma Abedin, the former aide to Hillary Clinton and ex-wife of disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, has seemingly unveiled her new romance with billionaire scion Alex Soros.
The budding relationship, with Alex almost a decade her junior, was hinted at on February 14, Valentine's Day, as the pair shared a cozy moment captured in an Instagram post from a Parisian restaurant.
The snapshot, simultaneously shared by both Huma, 47, and Alex, 38, depicted the couple nestled in a corner booth adorned with crimson roses and tokens of affection, with Alex punctuating the scene with a heartfelt "Happy Valentine's Day" message.
New Beginnings
This public display marks a significant departure for Huma, who has largely maintained privacy regarding her personal life since her high-profile divorce from Weiner, following a tumultuous seven-year marriage marked by scandal.
Weiner's fall from grace, culminating in a federal prison sentence for sexual communication with a minor, contrasted starkly with the opulent lifestyle often associated with Alex Soros.
Long known as a socialite and heir to the Soros family fortune, Alex's ascent to prominence took a decisive turn when he was named the successor to his father George Soros' $25 billion Open Society Foundations empire in a dramatic corporate maneuver last year.
The transition thrust Alex into the limelight, casting him as a torchbearer for progressive causes championed by his father, including abortion rights and gender equality.
In a candid interview with the Wall Street Journal, Alex outlined his intentions to wield his family's wealth in the political arena, pledging support for Democratic initiatives and expressing concerns over the potential resurgence of Republican influence in the White House.
In June 2023, Alex expressed his commitment to channeling his father's wealth towards progressive causes such as abortion rights and gender equality, telling WSJ that he was "more political" than George Soros.
"As much as I would love to get money out of politics, as long as the other side is doing it, we will have to do it, too," he said.
This stance likely resonated with Huma, who has long been considered Hillary Clinton's right hand, having stood alongside her during the 2016 loss to Donald Trump. Considering, their shared political leanings suggest a potential alignment of ideologies between Huma and Alex.
George Soros, among five major donors, played a significant role in financing Clinton's bid for the presidency. Huma's involvement with the Soros clan was evident in her correspondence with Clinton's campaign team regarding a fundraiser dinner with Soros.
In an email exchange with Robby Mook, who later managed Clinton's campaign, Huma inquired about the protocol if George Soros requested Clinton's presence at a fundraiser for America Votes, an organization he heavily supported. Mook reportedly responded, "I would only do this for political reasons (ie to make Soros happy)," Daily Mail reported.
Despite these challenges, Huma maintained her professional alliances, notably continuing to collaborate closely with Clinton. Additionally, she formed high-profile friendships, including one with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
Rumors even circulated in 2022 about Wintour's attempts to set Huma up with actor Bradley Cooper. That said, Huma's relationship with Alex Soros marks a notable departure as she publicly acknowledges a new chapter in her love life.
Social Media Reactions
The revelation sparked a flurry of reactions across social media. "She's quite a bit older...Cougar Huma," one posted on X.
"After Anthony Weiner anything's got to be an improvement!" another wrote. "Somehow this is not surprising," someone else added.
"We have to be in a simulation," another insisted.
