LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: During his recent address to Nevada Democrats, President Joe Biden highlighted the perils of a second Donald Trump presidency.

He enumerated a range of reasons why such an outcome would be a "nightmare" for the country and urged voters to support his candidacy, both in the upcoming Nevada Democratic presidential primary and in the general election in November.

President Biden's re-election campaign has centered on the notion that Trump poses a grave threat to American democracy and its essential values.

Despite facing only nominal resistance from author Marianne Williamson and a handful of lesser-known candidates, Biden is campaigning vigorously in Nevada, a state with a reputation for unpredictable, cross-party voting patterns, according to HuffPost.

The state has a transient, blue-collar population, and boasts significant communities of Latinos, Filipinos, Chinese Americans, and African Americans.

Additionally, Nevada has a sharp urban-rural divide, with a majority of active registered voters living in the two most populous counties that encompass the Las Vegas and Reno metropolitan areas.

Given these factors, Biden is keen to win over Nevada voters in the upcoming primary and general elections and his visit to the state could be seen as part of a broader effort to rally support for his presidential campaign across the country.

What did Biden say in Las Vegas event?

On Sunday, February 4, President Joe Biden kicked off his campaign trail at a fundraiser, by focusing on Trump's long history of controversial remarks, including his labeling of fallen soldiers as "suckers" and "losers," his wish to be a Day One "dictator", his promise to supporters that "I am your retribution", and his description of January 6 rioters as "hostages".

Then the 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief went to a community center in a predominately Black neighborhood of Las Vegas, where he told a gathering of several hundred people, "You're the reason we'll make Donald Trump a loser again."

Biden stated that the stakes were high when he challenged Trump for the US presidency in 2020 — "what made America America, I thought, was at risk" — and they are much higher now that a rematch is imminent.

During a private event at a residence in Henderson, Nevada, President Biden informed donors that in the event of their visit to Washington, he would show them the White House dining room table.

According to former aides, this was the table where former President Trump sat for hours transfixed in front of the television as the rioters he had incited with his rhetoric stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

President Biden emphasized the need to maintain the White House, retain the Senate, and regain control of the House.

“We have to keep the White House,” he remarked, adding. “We must keep the Senate” and win back the House.

He declared that achieving these objectives would enable them to declare that they had rescued American democracy.

Accomplish that, he said, and “we can say we saved American democracy".

He was equally forthright in promoting his record in his subsequent speech, where he asked people to "imagine the nightmare of Donald Trump".

President Biden has been promoting his economic policies, citing that they have led to the creation of millions of jobs, addressed climate change, and enhanced American competitiveness in the international market.

However, recent polls indicate that a significant portion of the electorate is not crediting his administration for these achievements.

In Nevada, for instance, a New York Times/Siena poll conducted in November showed that only 36% of the respondents approved of Biden's performance.

Furthermore, the survey revealed that voters were generally dissatisfied with the prospect of a Biden-Trump rematch.

Internet blasts Biden for his remarks

Another user wrote: "Joe, start talking about what policies YOU will fight for, what YOU plan to do to stop people like him."

Another X user remarked: "Can’t get much worse."

Finally, this user tweeted: "Biden is our nightmare."
