WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's private conversations about former president Donald Trump have come under scrutiny, shedding light on the stark contrast between his public calls for unity and the more explicit language used behind closed doors.

During a speech at the congressional prayer breakfast on February 1, President Biden stressed the importance of remembering the nation's identity, stating, "That’s sincerely my prayer to all of you. We have really tough, tough differences. We really go at one another. But remember -- let’s remember who the hell we -- hell we are. We’re the United States of America. It’s all about dignity and respect. So, let’s practice it."

Behind closed doors: Joe Biden's explicit language

However, reports suggest a different tone in private conversations, where Biden has been quoted using strong expletives to describe his predecessor, Donald Trump. Sources told Politico that Biden has referred to Trump as a "sick f**k" and lashed out against jokes made by Trump about the attack on Paul Pelosi.

In private discussions, Biden apparently condemned Trump for seemingly finding amusement in the misfortunes of others. According to Politico, the president recently remarked, "What a f***ing asshole the guy is" when referring to his chief political opponent.

This candid language stands in stark contrast to Biden's public speeches, where he maintains a more "presidential" tone, especially in the context of his ongoing re-election campaign.

During a fundraiser in Jupiter, Florida, Biden acknowledged the local experiences with "Trump-ism" without resorting to explicit language. "Because here in Florida, you've had a real dose of Trump-ism," he said, before humorously making the sign of the cross and adding, "Unusual guy."

Two incidents, in particular, seemed to fuel Biden's reaction. First, Trump's perceived inaction on January 6 during the Capitol riot, and second, the former president's public mockery of Paul Pelosi, who became the victim of a hammer attack in 2022.

Publicly condemning Trump's apparent disregard for the January 6 events, Biden has criticized the former president's behavior. "He laughed about it. What a sick..." Biden said about Trump's comments on the incident.

Notably, Trump had addressed a California crowd in September, making remarks about Pelosi's well-being and mocking her stance on border walls.

"We’ll stand up to crazy Nancy Pelosi, who ruined San Francisco — how’s her husband doing, anybody know? And she’s against building a wall at our border, even though she has a wall around her house — which obviously didn’t do a very good job," the former president quipped.

In response to the latest reports, Chris LaCivita, a senior advisor to Trump, stated, "It's a shame that Crooked Joe Biden disrespects the presidency both publicly and privately."

The back-and-forth between the two camps showcases the continued animosity in the political landscape.

While Biden's private language has drawn criticism, it is not the sole instance of explicit rhetoric surrounding him. A protester outside one of the president's stops in Michigan held a sign with explicit language directed at him.

Despite the candid private expressions, Biden concluded the prayer breakfast with a plea for unity and respect.

"That’s sincerely my prayer to all of you. We have really tough, tough differences. We really go at one another. But remember -- let’s remember who the hell we -- hell we are. We’re the United States of America. It’s all about dignity and respect. So, let’s practice it," he said.

Joe Biden faces social media backlash

Joe Biden was squarely mocked on social media for using expletives against Donald Trump in private while calling for unity in public.

"Joe Biden is projecting," one posted on X.

"Does anybody think Trump cares? MAGA cares? If Dementia Joe doesn’t like someone, that’s a ringing endorsement for me," another insisted.

"But Biden doesn't remember saying it," someone else quipped.

"If he only knew how the rest of the country felt about him and his current residency," another chimed in.
