WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative lawyer George Conway believes former President Donald Trump will 'lose big' in Supreme Court's presidential immunity case.

Trump is seeking absolute legal immunity preventing him from being prosecuted for a federal 2020 election subversion case in Georgia.

Donald Trump's legal immunity bid could 'backfire,' says George Conway

The attorney and anti-Trump conservatives George Conway said the bid could  "backfire" as the Supreme Court will rule before the end of June.

It would potentially lead to the trial going ahead after 81 days, Conway said, according to CNN.

"I do trust the court on this. I think … Donald Trump is going to lose. I think he’s going to lose big," Conway said.

“I think there may be a few wrinkles in the opinion that may add a few steps to the process but at the end of the day, I don’t think his argument is going to fly," he added, The Hill reported.

'I don’t think there is some grand conspiracy,' George Conway says

Conway added that Trump's legal bid could result in the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential candidate facing trial shortly before the November election.

"I don't think his argument is going to fly. In terms of the delay, I wish they had not taken the case... but the fact of the matter is, I don't think there is a grand conspiracy or even an effort by some of the justices to put this off to help Trump," Conway said.

He reasoned about the case being heard in the fall saying, "It was 81 days before trial, and the court has said it's going to keep that 81-day schedule."

"And if you add 81 days to the end of June, you basically get the middle of the fall campaign, so it could actually backfire on Trump," he added.

Internet reacts to George Conway's claim that Donald Trump will lose big in Supreme Court immunity case

"Watch for further delays, but even if not the damage is already done by this corrupt SCOTUS - they should have never taken up this nonsense about Presidential immunity," wrote one user on X.

"If they wanted it, back in December when J Smith asked them to take it up was the time," the user added.

"Whoever wins the battle —the immunity decision— the Supreme Court is ensuring Trump wins the war: no trial before the election. Shameful," wrote one more.

"Well, if George says it. Must be true. This cheers me up!" one user wrote expressing hope.

Well, either DT is gonna lose, or every single future president can do whatever the hell he/she wants, including breaking as many laws as they like. Because immunity for DT, means immunity for Joe! And the SC knows that," wrote one.

"He just needs to lose big in the election in November," wrote one more. Yet one said, "I hope George is right but I’m skeptical." "I don't. Unfortunately," wrote one.
