WASHINGTON, DC: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sharply retorted at MSNBC host Katy Tur for saying the Covid-19 pandemic adversely impacted the job market during Donald Trump's White House term.

The California lawmaker made the remarks during her appearance on 'Katy Tur Reports' on Monday, April 29, after the host pushed back her applause for President Joe Biden in creating more jobs than the former president, according to Fox News.

Biden "created 9 million jobs in his term in office. Donald Trump has the worst record of job loss of any president, so we just have to make sure people know," said Pelosi.

The MSNBC host retaliated, saying, "That was a global pandemic."

The Democratic congresswoman lashed back at Tur for blaming the job market issues during Trump's presidency on the pandemic.

"He had the worst record of any president. We've had other concerns in our country. If you want to be an apologist for Donald Trump, that may be your role, but it ain't mine," she said.

When Tur replied that she did not think anybody could "accuse" her of that, Pelosi added, "No, but let me just say, as the Speaker of the House, we put forth a $3 trillion bill, $3 trillion of investment in communities and the rest, and that stimulates the economy."

Further, the lawmaker also rejected the possibility of Trump's return to the White House, stating, "You'll have to forgive me. I cannot subscribe to the fact that he would be the President of the United States."

Pelosi, who was speaker during Trump's tenure, is a vocal critic of the former president, often accusing him of catering to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In March, she warmed that Democrats should win the November presidential election following Trump's controversial remarks of a "bloodbath" in the automobile industry if he did not win.

Before the conversation deviated to the GOP presumptive nominee, Pelosi was expressing her "sympathy and respect" toward everyone who voted. She stated that Biden was addressing the concerns about the impact of immigration, globalization, and innovation on the voters' jobs and the future of their families.
