'Lock him up': Internet slams Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg after he collected $850K in campaign donations after Trump indictment

WASHINGTON, DC: After indicting former president Donald Trump in March 2023, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg received $850,000 in donations, according to records, with influential Democrats and unions on the Left backing the prosecution with their wallets, the New York Post reported.

Notably, Bragg's reelection campaign earned $481,203 in donations from July 12, 2023, to January 12, 2024, during the most recent campaign disclosure period. This amount is $100,000 higher than the $374,785 raised over the last six months.

Alvin Bragg collected $850K in campaign donations after Trump's indictment

According to the outlet, $1,000 was donated by the political action committee of state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, a Democrat from the Bronx who has come under fire for supporting lax criminal laws like the cashless bail law.

Moreover, Democratic-allied unions also poured money into Bragg's campaign. According to campaign records filed with the state Board of Elections, contributions from these unions included $15,000 from the New York Hotel Trades Council, $5,000 from the United Federation of Teachers and Local 32BJ, which represents building workers, $2,500 from the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and $1,500 from the NYS Nurses Association.

The Democratic incumbent is running for reelection in 2025. His campaign purse showed a cash balance of $833,819, an amount that Newsweek first revealed on Monday, April 15.

Notably, the majority of Bragg's funding came from citizens of New York, namely wealthy Manhattan and Brooklyn contributors. Mega-donor to the Democratic Party In September 2023, Lisa Minsky-Primus, a philanthropist and doctor from New York, sent $25,000 to his campaign through her organization, which aims to "protect democracy".

Furthermore, rich financiers were another area where Bragg excelled. According to records, investment banker Ronald Blaylock, founder of GenNx360 Capital Partners, contributed $10,000 to the DA's reelection campaign, while chairman of One Equity Partners, the private equity investment division of JP Morgan Chase, contributed $25,000.

Several internet users trolled Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg as he received $850,000 in donations after indicting former president Donald Trump in March 2023.

One user wrote, "Lock him up," while another added, "Looks like he spent it all on ice cream and donuts." One person said, "He'll be working a jet ski rental tiki hut in Nassau within 24 months."



 



 



 

One individual said, "Money talks.. and people walk. So, I guess we have the best that money can buy for in this DA. LOL!!!" while another stated, "It is clear that Bragg is a corrupt who is paid to invent a case against Trump."



 



 

One person wrote, "These people are destroying NYC. Once the world capital now it’s just a banana republic."
