NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Majorie Taylor Greene took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, March 24, to accuse Speaker Mike Johnson of double standards.

Sharing Johnson's earlier tweet where he claimed any bill not securing the border would be unacceptable to the House, Greene labeled him a liar for allowing the two minibus spending bills to pass through under the threat of a government shutdown.

Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet

The US Representative for Georgia jumped straight into attacking Johnson, beginning her long rant on X with, "Speaker Johnson LIED saying, 'My position is clear--any bill that does not solve the problem and secure the border is not acceptable to the House'."

"As Speaker of the House, leading up to the funding negotiations, Johnson possessed all the power needed to force the Democrats to secure the border, as he controlled the power of the purse!" she continued.

"Instead he surrendered ALL of that power to Chuck Schumer and did NOTHING to secure the border in the $1.7 trillion dollar two part Omnibus. Speaker Johnson fully funded Biden’s border invasion!"

"Not only that, Speaker Johnson forced us to vote on the 1,012 page Omnibus #2 bill with ONLY 1 day to read it, under suspension NOT under regular order, and REFUSED to allow us to bring any amendments to the floor for votes."

She further questioned the timing of the bills being brought up, stating, "Speaker Johnson waited months, all the way to the dreaded government shutdown deadline after passing 3 CRs before forcing this massive betrayal down our Republican conference’s throats in order to use the threat of a shutdown to pressure Republicans to vote for it."

"And Johnson forced our conference to vote on this ruinous Omnibus during an election year which could cause some to lose their re-elections because they followed his leadership and walked the plank and voted for this disaster. That’s not how you take care of your conference and that’s not how you win the majority next congress either."

Greene slammed the Speaker for doing "the bidding of the Democrats" instead of demanding for "REAL border security" in the funding bills.

"I filed a motion to vacate to start the process of change in our leadership in order to end the chaos that Americans are living in every single day. This isn’t personal, it’s essential, and a matter of national security," she concluded.

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet

People took to social media platforms to slam Greene for her rant against Mike Johnson.

"Grand Old Party of chaos on full display once again. At this point you better hope no one else resigns because it's going to get a whole lot worse if they do. Honestly couldn't make up just how bad this has all turned out," observed a user.

"You continue to do nothing either but complain all the time on social media. I had a job to do when I was working, and I had no time to sit on social media all day complaining that I can't do my job because it's everybody's fault but mine, including my own parties - lol. My boss wouldn't like that, and your constituents are your bosses. I guess they don't mind? Ignorance is not bliss," wrote another.

"Blah blah blah. Hey cupcake how about working with both parties to unite the country OR is it more lucrative to keep everyone separated," jibed a third.

"In that bill, there is funding for agents, and other things that will help secure the border Marge. But you know this," commented a fourth.

"You’re just pissed that your motion to vacate/attention-seeking stunt finally put you in the doghouse. Good riddance," quipped a fifth user.
