WASHINGTON, DC: Former Representative Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) has publicly criticized President Joe Biden's efforts to recover from his disappointing debate performance and feels his sheduled interview will not help him either.

Ryan, who previously ran against Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, believes that the President's response has been insufficient.

Ryan expressed the need for more proactive engagement with voters during a CNN interview.

He suggested that Biden's scheduled interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos wouldn't be enough to address voter concerns.

The extended interview will air on Sunday, July 7, while the first look of the interview will air on Friday, July 5 and portions running on 'Good Morning America' on Saturday and Sunday as well, according to ABC News.

“I’m worried that it’s Wednesday, the debate was Thursday, and all we saw was a five-minute press conference that was very muted,” said Rya , according to The Hill

“Nothing that’s been happening is encouraging.” Ryan stressed adding, “It’s gotta be a lot more than that. It’s gotta be a barnstorm, it’s gotta be town halls in hostile environments, probably like Fox News. And show us you can make the case.”

Tim Ryan wants Kamala Harris to replace Joe Biden

Ryan called on Democrats to consider replacing Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris at the top of the November ticket on Tuesday, July 2, for "generatational change."

“Joe Biden's debate performance was deeply troubling. But it isn't just about a 90-minute debate and a terrible performance,” Ryan wrote in a Newsweek opinion piece.

“He also promised to be a bridge President to the next generation. I liked that idea. I envisioned him defeating former President Donald Trump, stabilizing the country, and passing the torch to the next generation," he added.

Ryan continued, “Regrettably, that bridge collapsed last week. Witnessing Joe Biden struggle was heartbreaking. And we must forge a new path forward.”

He reiterated his concerns during the CNN interview, stating, “It’s sad and it’s heartbreaking, but there’s too much at stake for any one personality — one person — to prevent us from beating Donald Trump.”

Ryan acknowledged the risks associated with his proposal, saying, “It's risky to say we're going to put Kamala Harris in and unite behind the vice president. But I think the highest risk that we have, the highest risk, is the status quo.”

Internet reacts to Tim Ryan's criticism of Joe Biden

Internet users reacted strongly to Ryan's comments. “The sore loser speaks,” wrote one user on X.

Another came out in defence of Biden saying, “The alternative is a man who will destroy democracy. I'll stick with the old guy who had a bad debate performance.”

One more user questioned Ryan's credibility, asking, “What does @timryan know about winning?”

Some users criticized the upcoming ABC interview with Biden, calling it “an easy recorded and edited interview with Biden knowing the questions ahead of time.”

Another user dismissed Ryan's comments, writing, “Nobody gives a flying f**k what Tim Ryan has to say. He lost his race by his own admission. Period.”

Others accused Ryan of seeking revenge. “He shunned Biden and then proceeded to get trounced. He's salty and is taking revenge by spouting this replace Biden BS,” one user wrote.

Another added, “Dude, you lost your election.” One more wrote, "Just another soft interview from the liberal media!!"
