Internet predicts Trump’s 'coming after' Alvin Bragg as DA doesn't fight hush money case sentencing delay
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office announced on Tuesday, June 2, that it will not oppose delaying former President Donald Trump’s sentencing scheduled for July 11.
The delay request is linked to Trump’s new attempt to set aside his hush money verdict on immunity grounds, as according to a letter sent by Trump, the evidence precluded under this new legal standard.
DA Alvin Bragg agrees not to oppose Donald Trump's sentencing delay
Although the District Attorney finds Donald Trump's arguments have no "merit," Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass responded to the former president's motion in a letter filed on Tuesday.
"Although we believe defendant’s arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn sentencing pending determination of his motion," Steinglass wrote, according to The Hill.
Trump's lawyers have requested a July 10 deadline to file their brief explaining their immunity arguments.
Steinglass asked for two additional weeks for prosecutors to respond, suggesting that sentencing could be delayed until at least July 24.
Donald Trump's lawyers challenge evidence based on Supreme Court's immunity ruling
Donald Trump was convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to disguise reimbursements to his then-fixer, Michael Cohen.
Cohen paid adult actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election to stay quiet about an alleged affair with Trump, which the former president denied.
Unlike his other criminal cases, Trump has not claimed immunity from the hush money charges themselves noted the publication.
Instead, his attorneys argue that some trial evidence involved official conduct that should be immunized and not shown to the jury.
"This official-acts evidence should never have been put before the jury," Todd Blanche and Emil Bove, Trump’s attorneys, wrote in their letter on Monday.
Internet reacts as Alvin Bragg denied delay in Donald Trump's hush money trial sentencing

Another commented, "Sounds like some people are getting very nervous about KARMA…."
Other users speculated about the political impact of the delay, with one suggesting, "Good question. I am guessing they know any sentence will increase his support." Another penned, "He’s in trouble."
Some commenters took a more cynical view, with one user writing, "Ok... what trickery does Bragg have up his sleeve?"
Another individual joked, "Since SCOTUS is about to announce that presidential candidates also have full immunity, I would like to announce my candidacy for president."
"They know Trump’s going to win & coming after them!" wrote one more.
