WASHINGTON, DC: On Friday, February 9, legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin opined that the US Supreme Court would overturn former President Donald Trump's ban from the Colorado Republican primary ballot.

On 'CNN This Morning', Toobin said, "I don’t usually like to predict the outcome of Supreme Court cases based on oral argument. I’m gonna make an exception and say this was a slam dunk victory in the offing for the Trump campaign."

His comments follow the court's apparent reluctance to prohibit Trump from appearing on the ballot during the hearing of oral arguments on Thursday.

Supreme Court Justices question a state's role in disqualifying Donald Trump from the ballot

During a recent session of the highest court of the nation, certain justices expressed a measure of sympathy for Trump's contention that states lack the authority to disqualify federal candidates.

Additionally, some of them queried whether the Insurrection Clause contained within the 14th Amendment applies to the presidency, according to The Hill.

Justice Elena Kagan asked, "What’s a state doing deciding who other citizens get to vote for president?" Chief Justice John Roberts emphasized the "daunting consequence" of other states possibly getting rid of Democratic candidates from their primary ballots if the court disqualifies Trump.

Toobin remarked, "I have rarely seen a contested case where the political breakdown did not — was not reflected in the oral argument. This was close to unanimous."

On Thursday, CNN analyst Van Jones claimed that the court's reluctance to remove Trump from the ballot demonstrated a "foregone conclusion" that is undoubtedly "very frustrating for a lot of people."

He explained, "This is a Supreme Court that seems very strong when it’s time to take rights away from women, very strong when it’s time to take diversity programs away from college kids, very, very strong."

"Voting rights away from Americans, very, very strong. But now, it’s time to disenfranchise a disenfranchiser and they’re just looking for the exits," asserted Jones.

Internet reacts to Jeffrey Toobin's prediction regarding SCOTUS' possible move on Donald Trump's ballot ban

Soon after Toobin's comments regarding SCOTUS' possible ruling over Trump's presence on the Colorado GOP primary ballot came to light, the netizens were quick to offer their thoughts regarding the case.

One remarked, "It seems this SCOTUS is intent on undermining the Constitution?" and another noted, "That has to be the safest bet of the year."

"Sounds like the Supreme Court does not care about the rule of law or the US turning into a dictatorship," opined a person, while someone else added, "Of course they will. They only say 'it’s up to the states' when it fits their deal."

An individual expressed, "I believe Scotus will agree that it's not ok," and one more said, "That conclusion did not take a legal analyst."
