WASHINGTON, DC: A lighthearted moment emerged amid the typically serious White House business, as Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fielded a question about whether President Joe Biden plans to attend a Taylor Swift concert to attract support from the pop phenom and her vast fanbase for his 2024 re-election campaign.

Jean-Pierre's giggling reaction to the celebrity-related query highlighted recent reports that the Biden team has its sights set on securing Swift's coveted endorsement to aid what is expected to be a tough battle for a second term for the embattled Biden, as per OK Magazine.

Addressing the reports on CNN Central on Monday, January 29, host John Berman asked Jean-Pierre about "efforts to get Taylor Swift involved in the president’s reelection."

"One idea that’s been tossed around a bit in jest, sending the president to a stop on Swift’s Eras tour," Berman said, struggling to contain his own amusement. "So what would Swift’s support give the president? Any plans? Any plans to go on tour?"

Jean-Pierre chuckled while citing federal regulations like the Hatch Act that bar her from discussing election matters in her official capacity. The 1939 Hatch Act bars federal executive branch employees, excluding the president and vice president, from engaging in certain political activities.

"There are a lot of, I know, in my shop in the press office shop, there are a lot of Swifties. If you were, if you will, fans of Taylor Swift. And so I’m just going to leave it there," she remarked. Jean-Pierre declined to comment further on Biden's schedule regarding the 2024 race, leading Berman to quip, "The first time the Hatch Act has been invoked in regards to Taylor Swift."

The speculation stems from a New York Times report that the Biden campaign has made the 34-year-old singer-songwriter a top celebrity endorsement target on the heels of her record-shattering Eras stadium tour and high-profile relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce.
