BUCKEYE, ARIZONA: A video hinting at a possible assault and abduction has grabbed the attention of social media users and led to concerns about the safety of Arizonans.
The event took place at a Circle K store near Interstate 10 and Watson Road in Buckeye, Arizona. Numerous individuals on social media criticized the state's safety regulations, with some comparing the US to a 'lawless country'.
Buckeye gas station footage of apparent abduction goes viral
According to Fox News, the Buckeye Police Department shared a video of an apparent assault and abduction involving two individuals at a gas station.
The surveillance footage shows an SUV pulling up to a gas pump. A woman gets out of the passenger seat and runs towards the convenience store. A man then exits the driver's seat, grabs the woman, and pulls her back into the vehicle.
The Buckeye Police Department posted these details on Facebook, seeking help to identify the individuals, writing, "Buckeye police need your help identifying two individuals in an apparent assault and abduction captured on surveillance video. Just after 10 p.m. last Friday, a gray SUV pulled up to a gas pump at the Circle K on Watson Rd near I-10. A female subject got out of the passenger seat and started running towards the store. Then a male subject got out of the driver seat, grabbed the female and dragged her back into the vehicle. The vehicle took off on Watson Rd heading towards I-10. "
Sergeant Tamela Skaggs of the Buckeye Police Department told FOX 10 Phoenix, "That video is extremely concerning to us, and we understand that that video would be concerning to the viewers that are watching it, so that's why we were here today, asking for information from the public to help us identify these two subjects, to help identify them and see if this woman is OK." She added that they have no information about the relationship between the man and the woman.
Skaggs further emphasized, "The timing in this investigation is extremely crucial. Watching that video, we are concerned for that female. There are too many unknowns in this investigation. That video right now is all that we have."
