MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor-turned-Trump attorney, has recently come to the defense of the former President, who was ordered by a jury to pay $83.3 million in damages for defaming columnist E Jean Carroll.

In his interview with Newsmax on Friday night, January 26, Giuliani criticized US District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the trial, referring to him as a "disgrace," per a report from The Hill.

Giuliani's criticism of the judge was centered on his conduct with Donald Trump’s attorneys during the defamation trial.

The former New York City mayor expressed his dissatisfaction with the judge's behavior, implying that it was unbecoming of a judicial officer.

It is worth noting that the case in question has been a highly publicized one, and Giuliani's defense of Trump has been met with mixed reactions online.

Nonetheless, Giuliani's statement serves to highlight his position on the matter and his unwavering support for former president Donald Trump.

What did Giuliani say during his Newsmax interview on Friday night?

Giuliani remarked, “Well, the judge is a disgrace to the greatest court in America. It’s called the mother court, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. It’s had some of the greatest judges in American history. This judge is a pure disgrace.”

“He’s telling a lawyer what questions to ask. That’s totally ridiculous. He won’t let him defend himself,” he added.

Writer, E Jean Carroll, claimed that Donald Trump had s******y assaulted her in the 1990s, but Trump refuted her claims, leading to an order in 2019 that cost him a significant amount of money for defaming her.

This is Carroll's second trial victory against Trump; last year, a jury convicted Trump guilty of s****l assault and defamation over a different remark, awarding Carroll an additional $5 million in damages.

“First of all, he was found not guilty– or not liable for r**e,” Guiliani continued. “It was s****l assault, not r**e. And second, you can be– you can be guilty of r**e, and still, a person can be a whacko. That was a defamation. You’re still allowed to defend yourself against defamation.”

In December, last year, a jury ordered Giuliani to pay $148 million in damages to two former election workers in Georgia whom he accused of committing fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Following Trump's defeat in the 2020 election, Giuliani spearheaded legal efforts to challenge President Biden's victory.

However, these legal attempts were unsuccessful in overturning the election results.

Trump pledged to challenge the "ridiculous" defamation ruling in court.

Speaking out against both decisions on Truth Social, the former President declared that he would be filing an appeal against the "Biden Directed Witch Hunt" that targets both the Republican Party and him.

Internet blasts Rudy Giuliani

People on X held up a mirror to counter Giuliani's baseless arguments, reminding him of last month's ruling against him where he was ordered to pay $148 million in damages to two former Georgia election workers.

One X user remarked: "Giuliani would know what a disgrace is."

Another user wrote: "It certainly takes one to know one."

Another user quipped: "The judge did not get hit with a $148 million dollar verdict like Rudy did, however. So there's that."

One user stated: "Giuliani brutally, cruelly, and dishonestly attacked election workers causing them to fear for their lives. Giuliani, an attorney, lead a failed insurrection against American democracy and will rightly have to live with the consequences. Now he owes $148million."

Another X user remarked: "Well, I certainly trust this guys judgment…NOT!!"

Finally, this user tweeted: "The only disgrace is Giuliani."
