NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden faced backlash on the internet as he placed the blame for blocking the New Border Deal on his predecessor and current GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

The accusations from the incumbent President come in light of Donald Trump's town hall interview with Laura Ingraham that took place on February 20, ahead of the GOP primary in South Carolina, where the business tycoon spoke on the subject.

Joe Biden's tweet

Biden took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a clip of himself watching Trump's interview.

The section from the interview which he played showed Ingraham questioning, "Why were you against the House - against the Senate border deal - the bipartisan border deal?" to which Trump responded, "Well they allow 5,000 people a week but a lot of people took it as 5,000 a day. It made it much better for the opposing side."

Biden is then seen commenting in the video, "You know, he just admitted it. He sabotaged our bipartisan deal - a 'bipartisan deal' - to secure the border because it made it 'much better' for the opposing side."

"You know who the opposing side is? In this case, it's America," he continued. "Donald Trump roots against America every chance he gets. He's only in this for himself."

In the post accompanying the video, Biden wrote, "They showed me the clip of Donald Trump admitting he sabotaged the bipartisan deal to secure the border. He’s actively rooting against America every chance he gets."

Internet reacts to Joe Biden's tweet

Internet users widely trolled Biden for failing to secure the border and trying to shift the blame on Trump, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Geez that Trump sure sounds omnipotent. You are the President and he is just some citizen, and HE controls what you can and cannot do? Gosh I think I like that powerful Trump guy better than an ineffective whiner like you," wrote a user sarcastically.

"@JoeBiden you single-handedly opened the border. Stop blaming everyone else," commented another.

"The guy who opened the border with executive orders has false accusations about the crisis he created. Incredible," mocked a third.

"I’m glad he did it. It was a garbage deal," stated a fourth.

"No Joe. You are rooting against America every chance you get," shared a fifth. "Close the borders Joe. All it takes is a swipe of your pen," said another.
