WASHINGTON, DC: A new book claims that President Joe Biden frequently tells West Wing aides that "good sex" is the secret to a successful marriage.

According to New York Times’ White House correspondent, Katie Rogers' book 'American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, From Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden,' it's just one of the proclivities of the 81-year-old commander-in-chief.

It recalls various instances over the years in which Biden made situations awkward by opining publicly on his escapades, much to Jill’s annoyance.

The book, which will be released on Tuesday, February 27, also includes contrasting stories of the couple's turbulent romance in the 1970s following the death of Biden's first wife, as well as intimate insights into his 47-year marriage to Jill, according to the New York Post.

Joe Biden has always been forthcoming about his happy married life

In 2006, Joe Biden shared with a group of supporters ahead of his second presidential bid, “I’d rather be at home making love to my wife while my children are asleep.”

The then-outspoken Delaware senator occasionally placed his aides in embarrassing situations during his time in the US Senate when forced to address the startling statements, but Rogers says that since winning the 2020 election, Biden has "tamped down on his public bedroom declarations."

Though he still occasionally speaks to White House staffers about his views about the significance of "good sex" to a successful marriage, the book adds, "much to his wife's chagrin."

The book also describes how, in a 1974 interview with the Washingtonian magazine, Biden raved "about the sexual and emotional connection he and (first wife) Neilia shared," as he was looking for a life partner after his wife and his one-year-old daughter Naomi’s tragic death in a car accident two years earlier.

“She had the best body of any woman I ever saw. She looks better than a Playboy bunny, doesn’t she?” Biden remarked about his late wife to journalist Kitty Kelley in the profile.

“At first she stayed at home with the kids while I campaigned but that didn’t work out because I’d come back too tired to talk to her. I might satisfy her in bed but I didn’t have much time for anything else,” he had shared at the time.

“That’s when she started campaigning with me and that’s when I started winning. You know, the people of Delaware really elected her, but they got me,” he added.

Biden also expressed his wish to remarry during the interview. “I do indeed want to get married again. I hate the image of the gay, young bachelor about town. That’s just not my style. I am not a womanizer,” Biden shared with Kelley.

He said, “I would like very much to fall in love and be married again because basically I am a family man. I want to find a woman to adore me again.”

What does upcoming book reveal about Jill and Joe Biden’s life as couple?

Jill would become important to Biden's political aspirations, according to the book, with family members having “made it clear to her that Joe wanted to run for the presidency” as early as 1977 and his brothers James and Frank asking her "out to dinner to suss her out and make sure she was on board."

Jill revealed in an interview with PBS last September, “They were letting me in on this, and kind of warning me that if I was going to marry him, that this was part of the plan.”

Joe Biden and Jill Biden's first meeting was through James Biden, who introduced them after Joe saw a photo of Jill displayed in Wilmington, Delaware airport in 1975.

This was the same year when Jill divorced her first husband.

On the other hand, Jill's ex-husband, Bill Stevenson, has contested the timing and claimed that he introduced the two in his kitchen three years earlier while aiding Joe in his 1972 Senate campaign.

It is worth noting that Joe had to propose to Jill five times before she finally agreed to marry him.

His sons, Beau and Hunter Biden played an instrumental role in persuading Jill to accept the proposal. Joe has often introduced himself as "Jill Biden's husband" at campaign events, demonstrating the timeless bond of their relationship.

Over the years, Jill has become " the powerful guardian of the Biden inner circle,” according to Rogers. She was a critical surrogate for Joe's 2020 campaign and played a vital role in maintaining the 'Biden-Harris' campaign's momentum during the Covid-19 pandemic.
