BOULDER, COLORADO: A man who killed a woman and dumped her body on the side of Flagstaff Mountain near Boulder, Colorado, in July 2022, with three other individuals before stealing her cash and prescription drugs was found guilty by a jury on Thursday, December 14.
According to the Boulder County District Attorney's Office, Jaime Moore, 32, was found guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, tampering with a deceased body, and tampering with physical evidence in the death of Alexis Alyssa Baca, 25.
Moore was the last of four defendants found guilty in her death, as per Law&Crime.
Alexis Alyssa Baca's murder was dubbed 'premeditated and cold-blooded murder'
In a statement, District Attorney Michael Dougherty said, "This guilty verdict reflects that this defendant carried out a premeditated, cold-blooded murder on Flagstaff."
He further stated, "After shooting the victim in the head, this defendant and his accomplices took significant steps to leave Boulder and cover their tracks in order to get away with murder. However, the exhaustive investigation by the Sheriff’s Office uncovered their involvement and the specific role of each person."
"The prosecution team has worked incredibly hard to secure justice for this victim and her family; I hope this verdict will provide her grieving family with some answers and comfort — although they will live every day with the tremendous loss caused by this defendant," concluded the District Attorney.
On July 25, 2022, at the Realization Point trailhead on Flagstaff Mountain outside of Boulder, a hiker discovered Baca's dead body.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit that Law&Crime reviewed, she had gunshot wounds to the back of her head, blood on her face, and burns from cigarettes all over her body. She also had a pendant around her neck in the shape of a grim reaper.
How did the authorities identify Alexis Alyssa Baca's body?
The investigators identified Baca using her fingerprints and learned that she lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They also found out that she had been in a traffic stop with a man about five days before her body was discovered.
During that traffic stop in Morgan County, Colorado, authorities detained a man because he had outstanding warrants. The man, whose name was struck from the file, told investigators that he was going to Montana with Baca so that he could buy a motorcycle.
He had about $20,000 in cash and two Glock handguns. The man instructed Baca to keep his car and remain in the vicinity following his arrest so they could continue their journey once he had bonded out of custody.
In the days that followed, surveillance footage of Baca driving around the Boulder area was discovered by detectives. In addition, they noticed a Ford F-250 that seemed to be pursuing Baca's vehicle.
Moore, a Las Cruces resident, was identified as the owner of the Ford F-250.
According to the affidavit, Baca's mother informed the investigators that her daughter had called on July 23, 2022, stating that she was "stuck in Colorado."
It seems that Baca called Moore and asked him to travel to Colorado to assist her in returning to New Mexico. Subsequently, Moore drove up to Fort Morgan, Colorado, and met Baca at a hotel with his fiancee Ashley Provine, Cody Hobirk, and Elizabeth Griffin.

According to the Daily Camera, Hobirk, 45, testified against Moore during the trial, saying that he had begun discussing robbing Baca at the hotel.
Hobirik apparently testified, "(Moore) said, 'Cody, I’m sick of this chick, she’s messed up a lot of things and I’m going to shoot her'."
After Provine and Griffin went for a walk, the group supposedly drove their separate cars to Realization Point. Moore then instructed Hobirk to make sure Baca was unarmed.
"He walked around Alexis’ car. When we had stopped to get pills he had told me to make sure she didn’t have a gun, and to grab her purse. He says ‘Get out or eat lead’. Alexis stepped out of the car and then she screamed, threw her hands up and he shot her," further claimed Hobirk.
Four convicts reportedly took two laptops, 5,000 pills and roughly $6,000 in cash after killing Alexis Alyssa Baca
Hobirk testified that after dragging Baca's body from the parking lot into a wooded area, he and Moore got rid of her car. However, Moore stated in the affidavit that he shot Baca in self-defense after she had shot him first.
After that, Moore told investigators, they took two laptops, 5,000 pills, and roughly $6,000 in cash. Throughout their journey back to New Mexico, Moore informed the police that the group disposed of Baca's personal belongings.
Following their arrest by police in New Mexico, the four were extradited to Colorado. According to records from the Colorado Department of Corrections, Provine, 19, received a four-year prison sentence after entering a guilty plea to accessory after the fact.
According to the Daily Camera, Hobirk entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and was sentenced to up to 32 years in prison in January. Griffin, on the other hand, was placed on four years of probation for tampering with evidence.
