WASHINGTON, DC: James Carville, the longtime Democratic strategist, is fed up with what he calls the “pronoun politics” of the progressive left - floating a radical idea that maybe it’s time for a clean split.

Speaking on his 'Politics War Room' podcast, Carville said bluntly, “I don't think we can work together on pronoun politics. This election did not teach you how damaging that is. I don't think there's anything that I can tell you,” reports Fox News.

James Carville calls for progressives to split from Democrats over ‘pronoun politics’

Carville believes progressives are too wrapped up in symbolic battles that alienate swing voters and weaken the party’s chances against Republicans.

“And you say, this guy is stuck in another century, not another decade. And he represents nothing to do with the future of our movement,” he said. “I can accept that. You're not really going to hurt my feelings. So, maybe we can have a kind of amicable split here.”

Carville suggested that the Democratic Party might benefit from a “schism.”

“They’ll never run against a Republican.. All they do is run against other Democrats,” Carville said.

“I don't quite understand why you're so anxious to have the word Democrat in the description of what you do. But maybe we can have an amicable split here. And you go your way, we go our way, and after the election, we come together and see how much common ground we can find.”

Carville’s latest remarks followed his comments from last week, where he urged the Democratic Party to move away from identity politics and refocus on what he sees as the top priority, winning elections.

Carville, famous for helping Bill Clinton win the White House in 1992, rattled off a few names — Working Families Party, Justice Democrats, Democratic Socialists — and suggested they stop calling themselves Democrats altogether.

“The only thing I'd ask is just don't use the word Democratic in any title that you have, because most Democrats that I know that are running for office don't want your name, don't want you to be part of the deal,” he said bluntly.

“They would surely be glad to take your vote. Who wouldn't? Everybody wants to get as many votes as they can. ”

James Carville has once again ignited a firestorm of commentary, this time for taking aim at what he calls “pronoun politics,” which he claims is dividing the Democratic Party.

One user defended the current state of the party, writing, “Don’t split it. It’s just perfect the way it is.” Others weren’t so convinced, with one commenter noting, “I have been predicting this split for a while now… these same people can’t stand the far left Marxists either.”

Another added a sharp critique, “They created the monster and now the monster is destroying them.”

Carville himself didn’t escape criticism, with one user saying, “Says the guy who is responsible for a lot of it.”

Others saw opportunity for Republicans in the growing cultural divide. “Pronoun politics aren’t working, but that’s okay by Republicans because they want to win,” one wrote.

Some users pointed to what they see as a power imbalance within the party. Another chimed in, “The so-called Progressives in that Party are in the minority, but they have the louder voice. And remember, one of the loudest, Sanders, is not even a Democrat. The members from whom sanity would be expected remain voiceless, by choice or otherwise.”
