CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Rep Jasmine Crockett reiterated her staunch support for Vice President Kamala Harris by attacking former president Donald Trump in a fiery speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Addressing the raucous DNC crowd at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on Monday, August 19, the Texas congresswoman touted Harris, comparing her "resume" with that of the GOP presidential nominee.

Crockett cited Trump's reputation of being born into a wealthy family and contrasted it with the Democratic White House hopeful's life before her entry into politics. The lawmaker also highlighted the former president's history of criminal cases.

"She is the chief and leader of the free world, so let's compare their resumes, shall we?" Crockett asked, referring to Kamala Harris, as per a video shared by journalist Aaron Rupar on X (formerly Twitter).

"One candidate worked at McDonald's while she was in college at an HBCU. The other was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and helped his daddy in the family business, housing discrimination, that is," the Texas lawmaker said.

Harris, the first person of color to be the Vice President of the United States, whose parents immigrated from India and Jamaica, attended Howard University, a historically Black college. In a recent post on X, Harris recalled her upbringing in a middle-class household where she said she worked at McDonald's to earn money.

Trump, on the other hand, was born to New York real estate mogul Fred Trump. He continued his family legacy in business, but in 1973, he and his father were hit with a lawsuit for "discriminating against Black persons in the operation of their buildings" by the Justice Department, according to ABC News.

Crockett continued her comparison of the presidential opponents, highlighting their career's legacy.

"She [Harris] became a career prosecutor, while he [Trump] became a career criminal, with 34 felonies, two impeachments, and one porn star to prove it," she stated.

Before her entry into the US Senate in 2017, Harris' was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017, prior to which, she served as the San Francisco district attorney for seven years.

Crockett emphasized Trump's history of becoming the first former president to be convicted in a criminal case. In May, the ex-president was found guilty of all 34 counts in the New York hush money case for allegedly altering his business records to cover up hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to silence her about their affair.

Since entering the presidential race a month ago, Harris has presented tough competition to Trump, who is eying a second White House term.
