Javier Bardem feels blessed to have 'beautiful' Penelope Cruz as his wife amid 15 years of marriage
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Javier Bardem has called his wife Penelope Cruz “amazingly f*****g beautiful!” as he discussed his personal life in a new interview.
“She's a woman I'm so blessed by having had the chance to be at the same time, in the same place, in life,” the Spanish actor told Variety for its new cover story, before noting, “It's important that you respect and support your partner, but also that you admire that person for what she is, for what she does.”
Javier Bardem still can't believe Penelope Cruz is his wife
Calling the ‘Vanilla Sky’ star a “good human being”, Bardem further added that “the way she relates to her family, to her friends, to our kids, to me, to herself. It's been a lot of years, and I haven't seen a hint of malice in her.”
“On top of that, she's amazingly f*****g beautiful! When I see her being photographed on some magazines, I go, Is that my wife? Jesus, is it? It must be!” the ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ star asserted.
Javier Bardem wants his children to 'understand the importance of being bored'
Bardem and Cruz have been married for more than a decade now after meeting each other during the shooting of the movie ‘Jamon, Jamon’ in 1992. They are also parents of two children — son Leo and daughter Luna.
Further into the interview, the 57-year-old actor talked about him and Cruz as parents. He told the magazine that “the only thing I do pay attention to is, no more than two weeks away from my family,” while deciding roles.
He also insisted on the importance of children learning “to sit with themselves.”
“We try to make them understand the importance of being bored, of wasting your time, of sitting down and looking at the ceiling. The younger generation has less patience, less attention, less care in detail,” Bardem explained.
“We are all living on a fast pace, and it takes a lot of courage to take the time to sit down and enjoy something for what it is, without thinking you are missing something else,” he added.
Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz keep their acting life away from home
About life away from the movie sets, the ‘Dune’ star revealed that he and Cruz do not “talk much about work” at home.
“We don’t have posters or photos or anything that reminds us of what we do for a living. We don’t waste too much time talking about work, though we love what we do. We try to compartmentalize life and fiction,” Bardem added.
