WASHINGTON, DC: GOP running mate JD Vance faced an embarrassing gaffe onstage during the Philadelphia rally on Tuesday, August 6, where he appeared to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris as the backdrop read "KAMALA".

Vance made his first campaign stop in Pennsylvania since being elected as the GOP running mate. His visit was eclipsed by the announcement of his Democratic rival Tim Walz.

During the rally, JD Vance took the stage at the 2300 Arena to address the MAGA supporters. However, things changed quickly when a stage backdrop meant to read 'KAMALA CHAOS' was partially covered by rallygoers, leaving only the name 'KAMALA' visible, according to USA Today.

Vance’s address slammed Harris and her record as Vice President, particularly on immigration and border control. He said, "Kamala Harris has been such a disastrous vice president of this country that everywhere she goes, chaos and uncertainty follow."

Vance started his speech by focusing on the need for stronger borders and aimed at the failures of the Biden-Harris administration. He mentioned, "We know that every time Kamala Harris took an action to open the American southern border, it is families like many who stand behind me today who have suffered the most."

Notably,  Harris and her VP pick Tim Walz also campaigned in Philadelphia later the same day. While introducing Walz, Harris said, "He’s the kind of person who makes people feel like they belong and then inspires them to dream big. ... That’s the kind of vice president America deserves."

Walz added, "We’ve got 91 days. My God, that’s easy. We’ll sleep when we’re dead."

Harris chose Walz as her running mate through a vetting process that included other nominees such as Josh Shapiro and Mark Kelly.

Biden sent his regards to the Harris-Walz campaign through a post on X where he wrote, "The Harris-Walz ticket will be a powerful voice for working people and America’s great middle class. It’s time for all Democrats—and indeed all Americans—committed to freedom, democracy, and American leadership in the world to rally behind the Harris-Walz ticket."

JD Vance trolled after the stage blunder

Many internet users trolled JD Vance after his embarrassing stage goof up during the Philadelphia rally where it appeared like he was campaigning for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

One user wrote on X, "He doesn't need a sign behind him to campaign for Kamala, he just needs to tell another life story or speak in general and the support for Harris grows," while one asked, "They only hire the best people for their staff though, right?"

One person questioned, "He took a wrong turn… He can’t keep his story straight, so how can he keep anything else straight?" while another said, "It's a big tent. Good to have his support of our next president."

One imdividual remarked, "Probably he’s very confused 'man'," while another commented, "ROFL bah hahahaha whoever is running their campaign really sucks at their job."

One social media user said, "Vance is a joke of a VP trump failed even more picking him," whereas another asked, "Is he a closet @KamalaHarris supporter?"
