WASHINGTON, DC: A video montage of old interviews showing Vice President JD Vance harshly criticizing President Donald Trump has resurfaced and gone viral on X, the Irish Star reported Monday, March 3.

"This JD Vance's video was deleted from Twitter by Elon Musk and my account (220k followers) was suspended," claimed the user @resist_vanessa, who posted the video on March 1. It has since garnered over 5.1 million views.

Trump's derision by Vance at the onset of his first presidency is well-documented. As per Reuters, he went so far as to refer to him as "America's Hitler" in a private conversation with an associate on Facebook.

However, his outlook shifted once he decided to run for Senate from Ohio in 2022 and met with Trump to seek an endorsement. Vance claimed that the shift was gradual and later acknowledged that he was "wrong" about Trump.

The video doing the rounds on X has clippings from various interviews where JD Vance is seen or heard tearing into his current boss. In one of the clips taken from a conversation with journalist Charlie Rose, Vance says, "I’m a ‘never Trump guy’, I never liked him.”

A second clip is from Vance's appearance on 'The Matt Jones Podcast' where he agrees with the host that Trump was a "total fraud," adding, "Like I said, I agree with you on Trump, because I don't think that he's the person. I don’t think he actually cares about folks."

The following clip, reportedly from NPR, appears more damning as Vance claims, "There is definitely an element of Donald Trump’s support that has its basis in racism and xenophobia.”

In the final clip, Vance is heard saying he might vote for Hillary Clinton if Trump comes close to winning the 2016 election. Otherwise, he would be voting Third Party, since he "can't stomach Trump” and believes "he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.”

Internet calls out integrity of JD Vance

Netizens were quick to call out JD Vance for his shifting stance on the social media platform, even as some MAGA conservatives praised him for the same. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Quite a damning video. Funny how power can corrupt the mind," wrote a person.

"There are no permanent friends or enemies in politics!" exclaimed another.

"@JDVance power more important than integrity?" asked a third.

"He got the offer he could never refuse," quipped a fourth.

"‘Never’ doesn’t last that long these days," jibed a fifth.

"How much did Trump pay Vance for his loyalty?" chided a sixth.

Another user called him a "hypocrite."

"A man who swallowed his own pride for the betterment of our country. The radical left could take a lesson from this man," stated a user defending Vance.

"Crazy how people wake up and change their mind!! What’s crazier is the people who never do," noted another.
