JD Vance ‘questions’ whether Trump is given accurate war updates, reveals bombshell report
WASHINGTON, DC: A bombshell report by the Atlantic revealed that the Vice President, JD Vance, has questioned whether Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon is giving President Donald Trump an accurate portrayal of the war in Iran.
Vance has “repeatedly questioned” whether Trump was aware of the real scenario on the toll the war is taking on the US arsenal.
JD Vance questions accuracy of war information
The Atlantic report, written by Missy Ryan, Vivian Salama, Michael Scherer, and Nancy A. Youssef, with a title 'The Pentagon May Not Be Telling Trump the Full Picture About the War,' reveals that JD Vance questioned the accuracy of war information provided by the Pentagon to Trump.
The report cited two senior administration officials, who recalled that “the vice president has queried the accuracy of the information the Pentagon has provided about the war. He has also expressed his concerns about the availability of certain missile systems in discussions with President Trump.”
The report mentions that Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, and General Dan Caine, who chairs the Joint Chiefs of Staff, publicly said that the US’s weapon stockpile is robust and has inflicted drastic damage to Iranian forces after eight weeks of fighting.
Is Vance accusing Hegseth of misinforming Trump?
About the Vice President questioning the accuracy of war information shared with Trump, Vance’s advisers clarified that “the vice president has presented his concerns as his own rather than accusing Hegseth or Caine of misleading the president.”
The advisers, who requested anonymity from the outlet, suggested that Vance is trying to avoid making things personal and creating a rift within Trump’s war cabinet.
“Some of Vance’s confidantes, however, believe that Hegseth’s portrayal has been so positive as to be misleading,” the report added.
US’ claim on Iran’s losses is ‘incomplete picture,’ says report
The portal also questioned the accuracy and credibility of the Trump administration’s claim on the scale of loss to Iran, stating that it is “an incomplete picture at best.”
For this particular claim, the outlet cited sources familiar with US intelligence assessments.
“According to those internal estimates, Iran retains two-thirds of its air force, the bulk of its missile-launching capability, and most of its small, fast boats, which can lay mines and harass traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. At least in terms of resuming stalled maritime commerce, ‘those are the real threat,’ one person told us,” added the report.
The report also mentions that Vance directly brought his concern about munitions to the President in a meeting where other top national security figures were also present.
